3rd generation AirPods require iOS 13

AirPods 3nd generation

After many months of rumors and alleged launches in previous keynote, the Cupertino-based company presented yesterday afternoon (Spanish time), the third generation of AirPods, a third generation that includes a renewed design (confirming previous rumors) and with support for spatial audio.

The main novelty that we find in this third generation is related to compatibility with older devices. The new 3rd generation AirPods require iOS 13, so are not compatible with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3 and the 6th generation iPhone touch, a compatibility that the 2nd generation AirPods did offer.

With the launch of the 3rd generation AirPods, Apple has reduced the price of 2nd generation AirPdos, going from 179 euros to 149 euros. This is the model with the lightning wired charging case.

El model with wireless charging case is not availableHowever, for 80 euros, we can buy it independently. For now, the price of the AirPods Pro remains the same, since Apple has not renewed them, and, if we ignore the rumors, it will not do so until early next year.

What's new in 3rd generation AirPods

The new generation of AirPods renews the similar design of the AirPods Pro but without a rubber on the tip that allow the Pro model to isolate from the environment and offer an active noise cancellation system that this new generation does not incorporate.

Thanks to the charging case, we can enjoy uninterrupted up to 30 hours of music and with just 5 minutes of charging, we can enjoy up to 1 hour of playback. Unlike the second generation, there is only one model with wireless charging and they are priced at 199 euros.
