Apple Boosts $ 100 Million Racial Equity and Justice Initiative

The riots that are taking place around the world and especially in the United States in relation to the murder of George Floyd are located in a common nexus: racism and inequalities around this reality. From Apple, days later, they positioned themselves at the largest concentrations in the United States, giving support to the protesters and groups that have been promoting the change that has been needed for years. However, Apple wants to go further and has created what is known as Justice and Racial Equity Initiative with financial support of 100 million dollars whose objective will be "to challenge the barriers for communities of color and, especially, in the black community."

100 million Apple against racism and racial inequities

Through a video on his Twitter account, Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, has announced a new program to fight against racial inequalities and, especially, all the inequalities suffered by groups of black communities around the world. This initiative known under the name of Justicia y Equidad Real will be directed by Lisa Jackson, Apple's vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives.

The program will start with an investment of 100 million and it will have three fundamental lines of action: education, economic equality and criminal justice reform. Although no specific actions have been revealed, Tim Cook assured that the presence of black people will be increased in all supply chains and in all Apple positions. In addition, actions and events will be promoted in order to improve skills and promote the ideas of black developers and entrepreneurs.

It has also been confirmed that they will promote what is known as Equal Justice Intiative, which aims to “end mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, justify racial and economic injustice, and protect the basic human rights of the most vulnerable people in American society.
