Apple closes its stores in China due to the Wuhan coronavirus

Those from Cupertino announced a few days ago that they were going to make a financial donation to aid groups that were dealing with the new Wuhan coronavirus. This new virus has already claimed 249 deaths in China although experts assure that society has to remain calm since there are other viruses, such as the flu, whose mortality is much higher than that of the Wuhan coronavirus. Apple announced a few hours ago that closes stores, offices and logistics centers in China until February 9 for obvious reasons: to prevent the expansion of the coronavirus that plagues the Asian country.

Wuhan coronavirus forces Apple stores to close

Our thoughts are with the people most immediately affected by the Coronavirus and with those who work around the clock to study and contain it. As a show of caution and based on the latest advice from leading health experts, we will be closing all of our corporate offices, stores and contact centers in mainland China until February 24. The online Apple Store in China remains open. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and look forward to reopening our stores as soon as possible.

This is the official statement that Apple has published. In it we can see how they confirm the closure of physical stores, offices and logistics centers from China until February 9. Close sources assure that this date is temporary and that if the experts' recommendations predict a maintenance of the virus in China, the date may be extended until the date that is necessary in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus and the maintenance of Apple worker safety.

In addition, those in Cupertino are reducing the number of travel of your corporate employees to China for the same reason: the Wuhan coronavirus. On the other hand, and before this announcement, Apple had already confirmed that cleaning work would increase of physical stores in addition to an increase in preventive measures in their own workers.
