Apple extends the replacement of unauthorized chargers to other territories

Iphone charger

After what happened in China with the use of unauthorized chargers, Apple has decided to extend its replacement program to the rest of the territories of the world.

Why is Apple launching this replacement program? It is all due to the two cases of Chinese users who they were electrocuted while they were recharging the battery of their iPhone 5. In both cases, the cause seems to have been a fake charger, without 'Made for iPhone' certification obtained by manufacturers that do offer quality accessories.

Thanks to this replacement program, any user who owns a charger of dubious quality can purchase an original one at a very interesting discount. In the case of the United States, customers could save 10 dollars and in the case of Spain, the saving is almost 10 euros. Below you have a table that shows the applicable discounts depending on the area:

Apple charger discounts

In order to qualify for a discount that appears in the table, it is essential to go to an Apple Store or authorized seller with the charger that we want to get rid of. There are no quality or brand restrictions, so do not carry a charger from brands such as Griffin or Belkin because it does not make much sense, they do have the certificate that what they sell is quality. This is more intended to replace chargers such as those sold in Dealextreme and the like.

Taking into account that the charger that Apple sells has a price of 19 euros, if we subtract the amount of the discount from this replacement program, the accessory would be a tempting 10 euros.

Do you need only the cable or the cable and the power adapter?

Only the power adapter, the cable is not necessary. Greetings

If it is the cable that is damaged, not the charger, that is worth nothing!

Yesterday I changed my fake charger that I bought for € 4 in a Chinese, I arrived at the Apple Store in Murcia and they still did not know anything about the program, they were informed and they changed my old charger for a € 20 transformer and a 30 pin USB cable for only € 10 without a doubt they were wrong because the offer is only for the transformer not for the whole.

I can't quite understand the program. I am interested in a new cable, does the program change the cable or the power adapter?

What remains in doubt for me is that, why did they put Mexico, and as a requirement you have to go to an Apple Store, if there isn't here ... Or is it also valid in the Premium Resellers?

Ohh I already solved the question myself, certainly if you can go to any of those stores, & hmm, in that case ... maybe if it's good to replace my chargers 😀

Does anyone know if it is valid for Colombia? Can the cable also be changed?
