Apple forces developers to activate two-factor authentication before the end of the month

App store

Apple has started to send an email to all developers who create applications for its platform, urging them to activate at once two-factor authentication on your accounts before the end of the month, to ensure that only they are the ones who access your developer account.

It is not the first time that Apple has encouraged developers to activate this type of access, however it seems that there are still a large number of them that haven't bothered to apply this security filter that prevents other people from accessing the accounts without the rightful owner having knowledge.

In the mail, Apple states that those who have not yet activated it, must do so before next February 27.

In an effort to keep your account more secure, two-factor authentication will be required to log into your Apple developer account and into Certificates, Identifiers, and Profiles beginning February 27, 2019.

At the moment Apple is only forcing developers to activate this security plus. For the general public, two-step authentication is still optional, although every so often, our terminal is responsible for reminding us that if we want to protect our account, we must activate it as soon as possible.

This change can pose a problem for developers using two different Apple IDs: one for creating applications and one for personal use. According to Apple, with this change they want to ensure that the developer is the only person who accesses their account.

Two-step authentication is a security feature designed so that no one can access or use your account even if they know our password, since it requires us to verify our identity using another of our devices associated with the same ID through a code.
