Apple will pay 113 million to slow down iPhones with degraded batteries

According to Apple, it took this measure to prevent devices from suddenly turning off when the battery was degraded.

As is often the case in the United States, lawsuits against Apple became common, both jointly and independently. To try to settle this matter, Apple has reached an out-of-court settlement for pay 113 million dollars as compensation (MacRumors), since many users were forced to renew their old iPhone by not knowing the measure implemented by Apple.

The 29 euro battery replacement program that Apple created when the news broke was not enough. While it is true that Apple can introduce measures to improve performance and reliability in its operating systems, the problem is that It did NOT inform its users at any time.
