As you well know, many high-end LG televisions began to receive the Apple TV application as well as support for the AirPlay 2 protocol through updates. Not only that, but some of the latest releases have full integration with Apple's HomeKit system, and this may prompt some iOS users to decide on LG TVs (not forgetting that Samsung has also bet well on this integration). Despite this, these systems continue to have some shortcomings that brands are committed to solving. LG confirms that the Dolby Atmos protocol will arrive on Apple TV and AirPlay 2 on its televisions during the year 2020.
Dolby Atmos sound is the evolution of the standard that Dolby had been using until now and that has definitely become a benchmark in the audiovisual world. Generally the Dolby Atmos is more and better integrated into LG products due to the convenient agreements that they have made between them, although they are not being served exclusively, they do predominate. However, despite the fact that Apple devices are compatible with Dolby Atmos, the Apple TV application of LG televisions is not, and neither is the AirPlay 2 that they offer.
Now LG has confirmed that the Dolby Atmos will definitely be compatible with Apple TV and AirPlay 2 this year. The problem is that, as usual, not only have they not given a date to hold onto, but they have also not indicated which televisions will receive this update, and more than likely it will only be the high ranges of 2019 and 2020. In this case, Samsung has been much more "comprehensive" when it comes to expanding the new features to its televisions, not only staying in the high-end range, as is the case with LG.
