Microsoft confirms Windows 10 Mobile platform is dead

The launch of Windows Phone marked the entry into the telephony market of one of the computer giants, Microsoft, who years ago had had its heyday with PDAs managed by miniature Windows. Microsoft could not adapt to the new needs of users and after the launch of iOS and Android left the market by the back door.

A few years later, Microsoft tried again with Windows Phone, an operating system that was very late to the market, where iOS and Android shared the market without letting any other operating system have a place and as has been demonstrated, Microsoft's mobile platform barely has market share.

The continuous withdrawal of models with Windows 10 Mobile from the Microsoft website It was the chronicle of a death foretold, since no new models were added to make up for the disappearance of the company's own models. And in case anyone doubts it, Microsoft's vice president of operations has confirmed that they have no intention of adding any new functions to 10 Mobile. They also do not plan to launch new hardware devices. In addition, they have made the decision to stop supporting third-party developers.

In recent months, many have been the developers who have completely abandoned the Windows mobile platform, after seeing the little success it had from the public and the almost zero interest that the company itself gave it. The only manufacturer that took a chance was HP with the Elite X3, a model designed for large companies and with which we can make use of the Continumm function and turn it into a laptop.

After this announcement, HP has expressed its discomfort for having supported a platform that was practically dead but that, due to Microsoft's insistence, was forced to launch a high-end model, a model that despite being a great phone, being managed by Windows 10 Mobile has made it very bad facing the public.

I hope that either Apple or Android pick up the glove and copy Continumm because I think it is a fantastic idea and with a great future in an operating system with a good market share.

We carry real typewriters in our pockets and it would be tremendous to be able to turn them into basic computers (browsing, document management, mail manager and a little more).
