Music is part of our lives and Apple knows that it is a good place to invest, innovate and create. Launching your own music streaming service It was only the beginning of access to the musical world. Then came the AirPods in all its forms and shortly after came the spatial audio integration and lossless audio that Apple integrated into all its services. Silver Schusser, the vice president of Apple Music and Beats, has assured in an interview that more than half of Apple Music listeners and subscribers make use of the spatial audio feature.
Half of Apple Music listeners use spatial audio
Spatial audio is a technology of surround sound that allows the user to feel immersive experiences of multimedia content. Not just movies and series but music can also be heard with this spatial audio as long as it has been recorded or adapted to this format. Spatial audio hit the Apple Music catalog in June 2021 and has since over 70 million songs are supported by the feature.
En an interview the vice president of Apple Music and Beats, Silver Schusser, assured that more than half of Apple Music subscribers make use of spatial audio:
We now have more than half of our worldwide Apple Music subscriber base listening on spatial audio, and that number is growing very, very fast. We wish the numbers were higher, but they are definitely exceeding our expectations.
The same does not happen with Lossless or lossless audio. This is another feature that is available in Apple Music. Consists of the lossless audio compression or Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC). A codec with which to achieve resolutions ranging from 16-bit/44,1 kHz (CD quality) to 24-bit/192 kHz.
The problem with Loseless is that does not support Bluetooth connections. That is to say, the maximum compression and the maximum sound quality cannot be achieved with AirPods or Beats and it is necessary a wired connection to headphones, receivers, speakers, or the device's built-in speakers. That is why the level of use of LosseLess is not so high, especially due to the increase in the use of Bluetooth speakers, including AirPods, in society.
