Everything seems to indicate that this year it will be the year of folding smartphones. Rather, it will be the year in which they began to hit the market, since at the moment it seems that the first model to do so, Samsung's Galaxy Fold, is having more than one problem with the screen. The Huawei Mate X will be the next to arrive, although we still do not know the date.
Motorola also seems to have wanted to target this trend and will launch a new version of the emblematic Motorola RAZR, a smartphone of which the first images have just been filtered through the Weibo social network and that allows us to get a slight idea of what a new type of folding smartphone will be like.
The image shows us a smartphone with a flat screen design that folds vertically. In addition, it includes a series of accessories that will allow us to charge it wirelessly as well as a special cover, all accompanied by a triangular box that attracts a lot of attention.
Motorola has never officially acknowledged that it is working on a folding smartphone, so this information should be taken with a grain of salt. However, these images coincide with a patent filed at the end of the year by the company itself which showed a folding smartphone with a design similar to the classic Motorola RAZR.
The Wall Street Journal announced in January of this year that the company was working on the relaunch of the RAZR. At that time, it was stated that this terminal could reach a price of 1.500 dollars, a price that is too high for what it could offer us being the manufacturer that it is, but now that new rumors related to this terminal have begun to circulate, it has much more sense that price.
In February, Motorola confirmed that it was working on the successor to the RAZR, but did not offer any additional information that would allow us to get an idea of what its design could be like and what extra functionality it could offer us.
This video that was published in February, shows us based on the rumors that have surrounded this terminal, how the new generation of the RAZR 2019 could be. I do not see it. It is like a smartphone of today that you fold it so that it takes up less space, without offering the supposed advantages that these folding terminals will offer us.
