Russia asks Apple to remove Telegram app from App Store

Last week the Russian government blocked the operation of the messaging application Telegram in Russia, due to the fact that it did not provide them with the encryption keys that it uses to thus be able to access all the messages that are sent through this application in Russia, so the more than 10 million users began to look for other solutions.

To try to bypass the blockade, Telegram began to use the services of Amazon Web Services, but soon after, the Russian government blocked their access, causing Amazon customers in Russia to be affected by the government blockade as well. At the moment, the only way to continue using the service is through VPN services, although this possibility will not take long to close.

But the Russian government wants no one to be able to use it, and the Roskomnadzor, the communications regulator in Russia, has asked Apple and Google to eliminate the availability of the Telegram application in Russia, so that users cannot continue to use it, a request that obviously neither Apple nor Google intend to fulfill, unless the government of the country threatens them in another way that could touch their pockets.

Blocking Telegram you are benefiting from the use of the services offered by Mail.ru, the Russian Google that is under the control of Alisher Usmanov, a faithful ally of Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The well-known ICQ, which at the beginning of the 2000s was one of the most used tools in the world to communicate by means of messages over the Internet, is the tool recommended by Roskomnadzor, a service that happens to be in the hands of Mail. ru since 2010, so everything remains at home and with full access to all conversations.
