Samsung will disable the Galaxy Note 7 that remain active

The soap opera Note 7 is far from over and soon we will have another chapter that will only add more fuel to the fire, because the Korean brand has made a decision that many users of the terminal will not be happy with: it will launch an update that it will render the terminal useless, rendering it completely unusable. Those users who are reluctant to return their Note 7 will have a nice (and expensive) paperweight from December 19 in a move by the company that what it tries to do is get all users to return their terminal and end this long history once and for all.

At the moment the company has confirmed the update in the United States, it has not said anything about other countries, although it is not ruled out that it will later be extended to the rest of the countries where the terminal was launched for sale. In the North American country they have managed to recover 93% of the Galaxy Note 7 they had sold, but there is still 7% that it seems they have no intention of returning their device. Because although it may seem reckless, there are many users who assure that their Note 7 works perfectly and that they do not plan to return it to the company because there is no other smartphone on the market that matches its characteristics.

Can Samsung launch a mandatory update that renders the terminals unusable? Can you bypass the user and have the update install automatically? Power of course you can, what we do not know is the legality of this measure. Although the company can always claim that it is a measure taken for security reasons, as some of the Note 7 users have good legal advisers, do not doubt that the soap opera will continue for a few more months.. At the moment Verizon has said that it is not going to launch that update for its terminals because it does not know what consequences it may have for people who do not have another terminal and who could be cut off in compromised situations.
