The iPhone 5s and 5c will be repaired in the store, no terminal changes will be made.

iPhone 5s open

Apple is preparing to carry out the In-store hardware repairs on new iPhone 5s and 5c models. The repairs will cover different components of the terminal, which means that Apple no longer replaces the terminal with a factory one (swap protocol) in case of finding damaged units or other problems.

To perform some of these repairs, stores will be equipped with specialized machinery, is the case of screen calibrators. Changing a screen costs around € 110 per device, which is a much more affordable price than totally replacing a device with a damaged screen.

In addition, changing a screen in Apple stores usually takes about an hour (even 30 minutes only), this amount of time is far less than it takes to sync, backup and replace the contents of the new replacement iPhone. It looks like a win-win for everyone.

iPhone 5s disassembled

They may also replace volume buttons, motor vibration system, camera and speaker of the iPhone 5s and 5c. They will also be able to change the conventional Home button on the iPhone 5c, but you will not be able to repair incidents in the Touch ID button of the iPhone 5s since that would have to be accompanied in changes to the A7 processor itself.

If an iPhone is under the AppleCare warranty, replacement of parts due to defects will be free. If the iPhone is not under warranty, there will be no labor charges, only the cost of the new part according to the prices that Apple has.

The repair work in the store has already begun with the iPhone 5, giving economic and quality results in customer service so satisfactory that the same is now being done with the new terminals. Therefore spare parts, machinery and repair manuals they are already on their way to Apple stores.

Well I'm glad that it is.

Those of us who take care of the device do not want them to give us a refurbished one, we want ours, which is why we take care of it.

I already want to see you when you have to go to an apple store and you have to run out of mobile for 1 week or more like in the Canary Islands and they give you the SIM card in your hand so that you can find a replacement mobile XD.

And to top it off, that your mobile falls into the hands of a botch that is everywhere (the typical technician with studies fixes because it really is not his thing but dad and mom pay him the degree etc.) and leave you the worst mobile phone as it was and you have to stay 1 or 2 more weeks without mobile.

One thing that apple had the best over the rest was that they gave you a 99% new mobile even if it was refurbrished. Now you will see when they pete the store the damaged cell phones and tablets hahahahahahahahaha the repair deadlines may even arrive to 1 month of waiting.

They will not believe that they will repair it on the spot in front of you, right?

Just last week I went to an Apple store for a problem with my screen, they changed the screen in 45 minutes and my iPhone was perfect, better than before I gave it to them.
And also my iPhone, I don't want someone else's iPhone repaired, I want mine.

Well I do not have an Apple Store, but there are stores that are dedicated to the repair of iPhone's and these do not charge for labor. Because of this, I prefer to fix it myself! I buy the parts and replace the ones that are affected! So far I have not had problems with the motherboard, thank goodness! 😄👍

Sure, but in the Apple Store they calibrate your screen, in a store or yourself you can't do it.

You are no more stupid because otherwise it would be a crime ... Have you spent your miserable life at an apple store to repair something? I have taken mine on the screen and in 1 hour IT WAS ALREADY. Do you prefer a new one? do you think they change it for a brand new one? HAHAHAHAHAHA, if so, your stupidity limit has no end ... THEY GIVE YOU A REPAIRED ONE, NOT A NEW ONE..I prefer to keep mine repaired that I know the use I have given it

I think the same as you but without the insults…. Thank you for your opinion, but I would appreciate it if we did not attack each other.

I had a problem with the lock button and they changed my iPhone 5 for another and it turns out that after a month the speaker failed and I went back to an Appstore (in Barcelona) and they only replaced the speaker in 20 minutes, with which I think the repair is better since in my case if they had repaired it the first time I would not have had to return.

Well, I'm not happy gonzalo, my previous mobile was a htc and I switched to an iphone because the technical service left a lot to be desired and with my iphone when I had a problem they just changed it to me and now I find that Apple is going to do the same as the rest. Forget about having one cell phone replaced for another and paying for parts or taking out the insurance that Apple is a scam. If we agree with this new policy ... come on man

      1.    gnzl said

They don't change it for a new one, they change it for someone else's iPhone with changed cases, you don't know how they treated it, I prefer mine.

      2.    Carmen rodriguez said

Well, I have been an iPhone user for years and unfortunately I have only had one problem with model 4, which, after the swap, does not stop changing, until the fifth time it crashes and I took the opportunity to change it to 5. I don't want to another repaired, I want mine, repaired because, as Gonzalo comments, I know how I have treated it.

Too bad for Apple. When anything happened to you, they gave you another one and it was fixed, in 5 minutes solved. Restore backup and holy easter, and with the advantage that if you had any mark of use then with the new one no longer. The one that was left was repaired and it happened to be a refurbished one. Now to wait between half an hour and 2 hours in the bloody store.

Sorry but this is a drastic drop in the quality of service.

wait half an hour or 2 hours JKAJKAJKAJAKJKAAK you bet something that you will have to leave it in the store and go to pick it up in a few weeks with a small invoice in hand with the delivery date and jakajkakajakjaka collection. Since when does a company repair in this way?

I already notice that one thing is to replace one mobile with another and another is to disassemble a mobile to identify the problem and replace the component. And we must add that the technician with the failure at the first time because otherwise you will have to return.

      1.    gnzl said

Do you know how Apple changes the iPhone screen?

He puts it in a machine and in a while it comes out at the other end of the machine with the screen changed, without a technician.
They sure create a similar system to solve other typical problems like the Home button.

That other one was a refurbished one from another user, who would have the camera fixed (for example) but due to the use that the previous owner gave it, he has three days left to fail the speaker. Now, which one do you prefer? yours repaired in a little while or refurbished?

One that is going to get stuck in iPhone 5, among which the terminals are less and less novel, the only thing missing was this.

They do not charge labor .. come on as the price of the piece already includes it ..

It seems excellent to me, but are these services everywhere only in the United States?

    Hello good evening .
Unfortunately I am hearing too much nonsense. Last week I was in the Apple store Calle Colón and the service was excellent my IPhone 5s had a problem with Touch ID in less than 2 minutes they gave me an iPhone 5s identical to mine, brand new, I unsealed it myself so the myth of the repaired mobile etc etc etc is not true it is more Apple has an iPhone manufacturing section for these cases so do not worry about whether it is repaired or it belongs to someone else…. It is not true they give it to you again with the stickers on the screen and on the back I repeat a greeting ciao

Too bad for Apple. Before you had a problem and they replaced the terminal with a new one, maybe with some recycled parts, I don't know ... But revised and without a scratch. Now Apple does what the rest, it is abandoning all the post-sale policies that it had before, and it is no longer what it was ... Now the logistics are worse, before it took a day to replace the terminal and you without leaving home, now it takes 1 week or more. I think that led is blinding the money. The Genius Bars leave a lot to be desired, and most of the employees have no idea. The personnel selection processes only focus on seeking an aesthetic profile of forgiveness and do not look so much at the technical skills they may have. Right now I know of South American employees in Apple's telephone service that are working 12 hours EVERYDAY except Sunday in Spain. Apple is making more money than ever and CUTTING IN QUALITY OF AFTER-SALES SERVICE more than ever.
