IPhone manufacturing halted in India

India

I have not wanted to indicate in the title, but yes, the stoppage of production in India is due to the coronavirus, only compelling reason whereby Apple could currently be forced to stop the manufacture of any of its products / devices.

The different factories that assemble iPhones in India, they have temporarily closed the doors due to the decree of the country's government so that all citizens remain in their homes in order to reduce the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

All factories have stopped their production at least until April's 14, following the instructions of the country's Prime Minister Narenda Modi, as we can read in Bloomberg:

Foxconn and Wistron Corp. have suspended production at their Indian plants, which include the assembly of some Apple Inc. iPhone models, to comply with the national shutdown ordered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Foxconn intends to resume production in India based on further government announcements. A representative for Wistron said the company is also adhering to the order without wanting to comment. which products are affected exactly by the government shutdown.

Winstron's new plant in India was set to assemble printed circuit boards (PCBs) for the iPhone in April. Another of the plants that Winstron has in India, is located in the center of Bangalore, a factory that has been in charge of the manufacture of iPhone SE, iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 since 2017. With the arrival of Foxconn in the country, it was responsible for the manufacture of the iPhone XR.

It so happens that this closure matches Apple's plans to intensify its efforts to launch the Apple Online Store in the country throughout this year. Thanks to the new measures adopted by the country's government, Apple will be able to open its first physical store in the country next year
