The new Bluetooth LE Audio standard will allow us to send audio to several devices simultaneously

During these days the consumer electronics fair is being held in Las Vegas, better known as CES and in Actualidad iPhone We have shown you some of the products and/or devices that have been presented. But we are not only talking about products and/or devices, but also about technology.

The Bluetooth SIG group has officially unveiled Bluetooth LE Audio, a new standard that take advantage of the benefits of low-power connections (Low Energy) in the sound field, so that connections are more efficient and consumption is much lower.

According to SIG, Bluetooth LE Audio uses a new high-quality but low-power audio codec, a codec designed to improve performance and reduce power consumption. This will allow a device stream multiple audio streams to different bluetooth devices like headphones and / or speakers. On an iPhone, we could send audio to three pairs of headphones independently to each of them.

Current technology transmits the audio to one headset and this one is responsible for transmitting it to the other, so it can sometimes lead to delays and an unstable connection. With this technology, the sound is transmitted directly from the device to each of the headphones independently.

Apple, like most technology companies that use this technology, is a member of the Bluetooth SIG, enabled its own audio sharing feature (as did Samsung) for AirPods, AirPods Pro and Powerbeats Pro. The difference is that the standard Bluetooth LE Audio will create a universal system for this function which will allow any headset to take advantage of this new standard.

Building on the low power consumption offered by this new standard, high streaming quality, and multi-stream capabilities, LE Audio it will gradually become available on more and more headsets. For now, manufacturers will have to wait for the specifications to be published in order to know the development schedule for new products.
