The protagonist of this film, Eddi Palmer (played by Justin Timberlake) has just get out of jail after serving 12 years. In his youth he was a football star in his high school. When he returns home to rebuild his life, he creates an emotional bond with Sam, a boy rejected by his classmates who lives in a troubled home. Everything is complicated when Eddie's past threatens to ruin his new life.
