The technology to control and read the heart rate through those small sensors located in the watch were one of the most popular novelties of the device. However, recently the biometrics specialist company called Valencell, has decided to file a lawsuit against the Cupertino company for not properly licensing this technology and therefore illegally using a series of patents attributed to Valencell. It seems that it is fashionable to sue Apple to see if you can get a bit of a cut now that they are financially so splendid and that is how it is.
Valencell has reported that he maintained a series of communications with both Apple and Fitbit Regarding the use of this technology, however, they failed to reach any type of agreement that interested both parties before the launch of the Apple Watch and the two models of the Fitbit bracelet that include this type of heart rate sensors. Fitbit is also now in the spotlight after it was learned that the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, uses one of his quantifying bracelets on a regular basis.
But they do not stay here, Valencell has also indicated that he has suffered a theft of information by IPs belonging to the Cupertino company. The company has allegedly identified seven Apple employees who were actively working on the development of the heart rate sensors for the Apple Watch. Meanwhile, Apple has once again kept silent on the allegations, waiting for the right moment to release its statements. On the other hand, companies like Intel and LG already have their own agreements with Valencell to avoid this type of legal fights around this technology. We will keep abreast of the judicial evolution of the umpteenth proceeding against Apple for alleged patent infringement.
