Waze sued for theft of data on their maps

Waze steals data from your maps

The Waze map service has been sued for an alleged theft of the base data that Wade provides for its maps. The lawsuit has been filed by PhantomAlert in the Federal Court of San Francisco, in the United States. According to PhantomAlert representatives, the Wade company uses proprietary data to provide its users with the browsing experience, and most importantly, without the consent of PhantomAlert or the collection of the corresponding royalties.

Both applications have a particular system to share traffic information among other functions, however, according to the General Director of PhantomAlert, Mr. Joseph Seyoum, this information is only provided by PhantomAlert and Waze does nothing more than copy it. To hunt them down, PhantomAlert issued a number of fictitious locations and data which Waze also relayed to its users and that have been the possible definitive proof of this theft of information that has fallen so badly in San Francisco.

Seoyum has indicated that he started on PhantomAlert with the intention of fulfilling a dream as an entrepreneur and now this dream is being crushed by companies like Waze that benefit from the years of blood, sweat and tears that PhantomAlert have invested in their product (quote) . PhantomAlert's attorney further indicates that Waze has increased in value exponentially thanks to data theft, amounting to a value of 1.000 million dollars. However, they have not specified how much the amount for which they are demanding amounts to.

So far from Waze they have not issued any statement, rather, Google does not position itself in this regard, we remember that Google bought Waze two years ago for the not inconsiderable amount 996 million euros. Google would be a bit portrayed if it has dedicated itself to stealing information from a company considered so small at its side.

They make mistakes as big as changing the name of the product because the copywriters don't know anything, according to them they should be allowed to make mistakes because they are human. Okay, nobody is perfect but nobody is so imperfect either, there are already many serious flaws that I have seen in the newsrooms of this website.

Do not be harsh, see that Miguel Hernández made an effort. To the point I insist on the image of the little thief ... AND I PLACE THE LOGOS OF THESE TWO THIEF COMPANIES.

In any case, the one that you demand, I think it has no use in Spain. Nor is it something of much interest who sues whom, at least for ordinary citizens.
