A line of code in iOS 9.3 would confirm that the iPhone 7 will not have a headphone jack

iPhone 7 concepts

We have been talking for several weeks about the possibility that Apple can do without the 3,5 mm jack in its future devices and the first to undergo this transformation would be the iPhone 7. This decision has to be seen as a logical evolution of the devices in their quest to make them as thin as possible, although this is counterproductive for the rigidity and security of the device, which is more The thinner it is, the more fragile it will be.

According to the developer, who has posted a screenshot on Twitter, he claims that iOS 9.3 has a line of code that reads "Headphones.have.% sinput.NO". This enigmatic line could confirm that the next devices launched by the Cupertino-based company could arrive without the 3,5 mm jack connection that has been with us for 65 years.

Obviously this does not mean that it will be a reality but it seems to confirm the latest rumors about the decision to make the jack of the new iPhone disappear sooner rather than later. Furthermore, this line would show that Apple is working on devices without the jack running this latest version of the operating system. The disappearance of the jack would mean having to renew all our headphones for ones with a lightning connection, either buy a lightning jack adapter or start buying bluetooth headphones, because I seriously doubt that Apple is going to include us in the new iPhone if the connection finally disappears device jack.

Currently there are very few manufacturers that are betting on this type of connection for their headphones, however in the market we can find a large number of brands that already offer us headphones that connect via bluetooth to our devices. Although perhaps, when the jack connection disappears, Apple puts all the meat on the grill and incidentally swap the lightning connection for the USB-C connection in order to comply with the European regulations that will come into force in 2017 and that oblige all manufacturers to use the same connection.

This… «This decision has to be seen as a logical evolution of the devices in their quest to make them as thin as possible….» I honestly don't get it. Has anyone asked (watch out! I'm not saying Apple but any manufacturer), a slimmer smartphone? That I know of no one. What if ALL companies are asked is that the autonomy of the batteries of their devices increases and also considerably, which by the way collides head-on with that thinness that according to you is a logical evolution (?).

Apple does not eliminate the Mini-Jack connector for something that I repeat no one has asked, it does it only and exclusively for the always ... DINER O. If, as we all predict (I hope that what you say at the end of your entry regarding USB would be fulfilled- C but I think we both know that it will not be like that even if we keep that hope) the only helmets compatible with iPhone (I suppose the iPad will go later) are those with a Lightning connector, Apple is going to swell to no longer sell helmets, which also, but especially Lightning / Mini-Jack adapters, which at € 30 on average per adapter can be an income just for that multi-million dollar adapter, since EVERYONE who buys the iPhone 7 will be forced to buy it if they do not want to depend solely and exclusively on the helmets that will come in the box, forgetting about all the others that they have at home. It is clear that we would all be more interested in buying the adapter for price than some Lightning helmets in the event that we lose the ones that come in the package, or simply leave them forgotten at home when taking a trip.

It will also be necessary to have another adapter that will surely come out, and although it may not be so mandatory to buy it, for many people it may be essential; This is none other than a kind of "thief" that allows us to charge the iPhone and be able to have the helmets on at the same time, that is, another € 30 more "to take it out."

As I have already commented in other entries, if finally, and everything to indicate that it will be, the Mini-Jack is eliminated to leave only a connection that as you say in your entry is doomed to disappear in a year, (at least in Europe ) I will change platforms and I will, I assure you, with great regret. In fact I have already stopped shopping both in the Appstore and in Cydia that I had planned to do because obviously I am not going to buy something that in a few months I will not use again.

I honestly no longer trust Apple to rectify and return to the path that trapped us all years ago, that is, design above all else (this was lost with iOS 7), excellence in its products, both hardware and software (it does not I need to remind you of the "gates" of the latest iPhone, or the disastrous panorama of the different versions of iOS that we have, that is, lags in the star iPhone, fixing one thing to spoil another, etc, etc, etc). In short, in my opinion Apple is losing or has already lost everything for what it became what it is now at the hands of Jobs, and the latest attempts to loot the pockets of his customers as the thank God "best seller" iPhone 5c and now this new one takes out quarters that Apple takes out of its sleeve, they do nothing more than confirm along with the problems that I comment on the versions of iOS, that Apple is no longer anything of what it was. They began by destroying its main essence, which was the design raised to its highest heights with iOS 7 and ended up sinking into their own greed.

I only hope that if this finally takes place, the iPhone 7 is a sales disaster and Apple rectifies it, but with the legion of fans that Apple has around the world I am very afraid that this will not be the case.

I am a musician and I am aware that a headphone jack is almost necessary in a telephone because many people use them to listen to music but it is also true that it is technology from the 70s, renew or die.

Renew with what, with a Lightning connector that is exclusive to Apple and next year will be dead in Europe? Or maybe to renew is to use wireless headphones for the hell knowing that sound quality has absolutely nothing to do with it and most importantly ... That can be done right now?

The argument to renew or die I would buy it if the connector was USB-C but I think that unfortunately we ALL know that it will not be like that. The only renewal will be that of the Apple wallets since they will have to renew them with fatter ones due to the huge amounts of money that they will receive thanks to the legion of fans who will be fooled.

Well, one has been missing: Or not to buy the iphone 7
I am not going to change my headphones because of a phone this simple
    bye bye iphone 7

Well, note that I do not agree with you. If the connector were a future connector as USB-C undoubtedly is, it would not matter to me because obviously and even if little by little the Mini-Jack would disappear in favor of USB-C because ALL devices will use in principle that connector from 2017. Now either change my helmets or give Apple € 30 for an adapter because they feel like it and with the sole intention of swelling themselves to sell those adapters or helmets with their exclusive connector, that is not true. . They certainly don't cheat me.
