Since their launch on the market in December 2016, Apple's AirPods have become a best-seller for the company, thanks not only to their low price compared to the same options that were available on the market at the time, but also too thanks to the fantastic integration with any Apple device.
This year, Apple has launched the second generation of AirPods with interesting new features compared to the first generation, such as the wireless charging case (on the most expensive model) and interaction with Siri via voice command. But in addition, it has also launched, the AirPods Pro, the expected Noise-canceling AirPods.
Apple has never reported on the number of AirPods it has put on the market since the first generation, so we have never been able to know officially the number of devices spread around the world. This forces analysts to work extra to keep their clients informed about the company's progress and its long-term estimates.
Dan Ives, an analyst at Wedbush, says that the demand for the second generation of AirPods and AirPods Pro, has been very high during the week of Black Friday and will continue throughout today, the day that is celebrated on Cyber Monday.
A good part of the great demand that these models have had, we find it in that many shops have offered both models with interesting discounts. A few days ago, the second-generation AirPods with noise cancellation were available on Amazon Spain for only 179 euros, the same price as the model that Apple sells without the wireless charging case.
Last week, sources related to the production chain pointed out that Apple had increased the number of orders until the end of the year, and that the Cupertino-based company estimates to put on the market about 60 million AirPods in 2019, reaching a range of 85-90 million at the end of 2020.
