Android design chief criticizes iOS for "heavy and burdensome"

android-or-ios

When Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone now more than eight years ago, he said it was a breakthrough product that was 5 years ahead of the competition. Several years later we have been able to confirm that the former CEO of Apple was right, since Android took several years to catch up with what was known at that time as iPhoneOS. The good thing, or the bad thing depending on how you look at it, is that the way to use iOS hasn't changed much over the years, something that has been criticized by Matias Duarte, Google's chief designer, because he considers it a frustrating stalemate.

The main problem with iOS according to Duarte is the design. When the iPhone was presented, all its operation, icons and way of moving through the system was something very positive and welcome, but Duarte believes that everything is exhausted and people end up getting tired of things that are not renewed, something in which I am agree only in part.

«The iPhone crystallized many other things that remained until then, such as the rows of icons that do not scale very well. This idea of a small network that you organize manually feels cumbersome and burdensome.«.

The bad thing is that Duarte does not tell us of any alternative better, what is not without grace. What Google's chief designer is telling us is that they followed the path set by Apple a few years ago and now they complain about the current state of technology because «phones are starting to show their age«. On the other hand, he is hopeful that major design changes will come soon.

In my opinion, Duarte is forgetting that smartphones can fall into the hands of any user. What you have to do is combine design and ease of use and the latter is achieved by offering something that the user knows. If we change where we have to touch every two by three, we will not know how to move through a system, something that happens in some internet service updates and that I do not like at all. In any case, Duarte's statements should not surprise us if they are made from the competition.

The truth is that ios feels stale and boring. Duarte has already indicated how to make an agile and attractive system. The first glimpse, Ice Cream Sandwich. And the final note, Material Design.
Duarte's designs are really cool. It is true that a system should be simple, but not to the point that it is inconspicuous.
IOS hasn't changed, and because of that, it feels like stone age.

What a clown, what a nose he has to criticize what they have blatantly copied from the beginning! Steve jobs already said it: android is a stolen product.
What's wrong with this clown? Can't they copy anything else? Or is it that they want Apple to invent something totally new for them to be able to "innovate", excuse me, steal, I mean, copy!
ios outdated and boring? Ha ! Ohhh please enlightened be, tell us then what is the path of a fabulous new system that is not boring?
I prefer ios 5 a million times over to the new ios bullshit.
I prefer a billion times the original google maps app to the disgusting basophy of google maps today, with the search field of the noses occupying part of the screen and there is no way to make it disappear, what a garbage.
