Android N is already preparing to adapt to 3D Touch

iOS and Android

Google has confirmed this morning that is working to add support to screens with pressure sensors similar to the 3D Touch from Apple. It is the second Beta for Android N developers that has left the first scraps of this Android function that arrives almost a year late with respect to Apple's 3D Touch function. However, Google has referred to the function of the on-screen pressure control with a somewhat peculiar name, although it was clear that sooner or later Android would welcome this function baptized by Apple since the interest on the part of companies and users is considerable.

In the notes of the latest Android edition, they called this function «Launcher Shortcuts«, That is, they would be like shortcuts in the Launcher. For those who are not familiar with the word "Launcher", in Android it is the part of the system that allows us to navigate on the desktop (on iOS it would be the SpringBoard) and the application drawer. In fact, the Launcher is a fairly customizable part of Android and is what its users tend to alter the most. We leave you a video so that you can appreciate how this pressure detection capacity works in Android N.

So, for now the Android 3D Touch is only available for Launchers, although it is expected that during the last quarter of this year, Google will end up adding this function to the entire Android N system. Launcher, we are not going to fool ourselves either. Meanwhile, brands like Huawei or Meizo have imitated their own 3D Touch systems, although they are functions that control their layers of customization and not the source code of the operating system. Android continues to put the batteries, it is the umpteenth time that both Apple and Google borrow functions from the competition.
