Enjoying your music is easier than ever today. We have music on our phones, on tablets, even on our watches, the speakers themselves have music without the need for another device to provide it. But a simple speaker that offers us good sound at a very reasonable price is always great news.

This is exactly the role of this Souncore Flare + by Anker, a speaker without assistants, portable to the point that we can take it with us wherever we want, with good autonomy and that offers us a powerful sound with good bass, lighting to animate the party and water resistance. We have tested it and we tell you our impressions.

Sober design with surprises

The loudspeaker design is quite conventional, although it has a "flared" profile that makes it somewhat more original and above all more stable, as it has a wider and heavier base. Covered by textile material, and with the upper and lower part of rubber, not an eye-catching speaker at first glance, but it has a built-in surprise that can cheer up more than one.

The base has LED lights that you can use to change to the rhythm of the music from the speaker, or to follow a certain pattern. They are fully customizable with the Soundcore app available for both iOS (link) and Android (link). The customization options are many, and you can find from the most relaxing lighting to the most disco. Of course, if you don't want any kind of light, you can turn them off.

It has control buttons on the top (playback control, lighting control and BassUp mode to increase the bass), a handle to transport it or hook it to your backpack, and under a silicone lid the microUSB (recharging), USB (to recharge your smartphone) and jack input connections. Being able to recharge your iPhone or any other smartphone is something very welcome, so that the music does not have to stop because you have run out of phone. On these connectors the button to link it via Bluetooth and the power button.

The silicone cap is very convenient to protect these connectors, important if we consider that It is a waterproof speaker (IPX7) so without fear you can take it to the pool to mount the party of the year. Taking into account its size and autonomy (20 hours of playback on a full charge), it is a fairly light speaker (850gr) to take it with you anywhere.

Powerful sound with good bass

The sound is impressive for a speaker of this size. It really has a very high volume, although when you force the volume too much you can already notice some small distortion. Another thing that stands out in this section is the bass, very striking. The construction of the loudspeaker means that the sound is distributed in about 360º, so the sound will not be affected too much if you are right in front or to the side, important to place it outdoors.

A but that can be put to this speaker is that when you use the BassUp mode to bring out the bass, the mids are somewhat hidden. This is partly solved by disabling this mode. The sound in general is quite good, especially when you consider its size and price.. If we compare it with the UE Boom 2, in its same price range, I would say that the sound offered by this Flare + is somewhat superior.
