For quite some time now, Apple has been betting on companies based in North America, a dose of patriotism that usually comes in handy with sales that are made in hamburger country. To reinforce its image in the country, it has been betting heavily on companies such as Corning, responsible for Gorilla Glass, which is not officially used in the iPhone, although we all imagine that it is.
Now the bet is also being quite strong, more specifically by Finisar, responsible for the sensors present in the iPhone X and in the AirPods. Apparently the company is quite happy with the results they are offering and $ 390 million seems like a good way to show it.
Jeff Williams, Apple executive, is quite clear judging from their statements.
VCSELs power some of the most sophisticated technologies we have developed and we are delighted to partner with Finisar in the years to come to push the limits of VCSEL technology and the applications it enables. The technology is only as good as the people behind it, and Finisar is a company with a good track record of putting its employees first and supporting the community of which it is a part. We are extremely proud that our participation will help transform another American community into a manufacturing powerhouse.
And this is how the Texas-based company plans to be able to accord the orders of the Cupertino company, expanding its plant that will have 65.000 square meters and around 500 workers, yes, this new plant will not be active at least until mid-autumn 2018. Being an ally of Apple is proving quite profitable for companies around the world, a safe bet with successes chained ... until when?
Where can you get that case for the airpods?
