Apple could regulate fast charging for its iPhones in 2018, and that's a good thing

Many are the rumors that assure that The next iPhone that Apple launches this year could incorporate its own fast-charge charger instead of the classic "slow" charger that has been included in all models until now. Great news for those who need this feature because they will not have to spend more money on an official or third-party charger.

New rumors assure that Apple can regulate this type of chargers requiring that they have some type of certification so that only those who have it can quickly charge your iPhone. This news has been taken very differently by the media, praising or criticizing in equal parts, and we explain why.

Fast charging has already been included by Apple in its models launched in 2017. The iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X have this feature but it is necessary to buy an additional charger that is not included in the box. Apple offers us the MacBook but there are other more affordable options on Amazon, such as these from Aukey that we test and recommend from the blog. They all have a common feature: they must be USB-C with Power Delivery. But as of this year they could also have to fulfill another characteristic so that they work as they should.

Apple could require the certification of the chargers to work properly, otherwise the iPhone could directly limit the charge to the conventional 2,5W. These rumors ensure that Apple would opt for C-AUTH, which for me would be good news because we would ensure that the chargers meet the required specifications and will not damage our device. We are talking about chargers that can reach up to 100W of charging power and that is a high risk of damaging your device if the necessary specifications are not met.

Some have taken this as a negative and that it will cause cheap chargers to not be compatible with your iPhone. Each one who interprets it as they want, but in terms of loaders I prefer to pay a little more and know that I do not run the risk of my iPhone exploding on all four sides.

I think it's great that Apple requires a certification so that the terminal is not damaged. I bought a charging cable two years ago and it was a bit thicker than the original, which could damage the charging input. It's not worth saving € 10 and damaging your phone.
