Apple could use Gallium Nitride technology for its next charger this year

gallium nitride

Gallium nitride. So a boat soon sounds like a very dangerous explosive. One of those concepts that are scary at first and that we immediately adopt as a daily routine, such as lithium-ion batteries, or tungsten bits.

Well, we can get used to hearing about this current transformation technology. Without going into technical details, it seems that With this new system, the chargers of our devices will be reduced in size by increasing their capacity. Major brands of accessories have already presented gallium nitride (GaN) chargers and obviously, Apple is not going to be less.

Apple may be planning to adopt gallium nitride (GaN) technology to add smaller chargers to its devices. A rumor claims that the company is working on a 65W fast charger for this year.

A lot of brands are starting to adopt this technology in their new device chargers. Griffin and Aukey have already unveiled their models at CES in Las Vegas last month. Apple may already start shipping its own GaN chargers later this year.

A single multipurpose charger

IT Home explains that Apple is one of the many companies that is studying incorporating GaN chargers in their devices this year. Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, and Oppo are also believed to be working on their own GaN chargers.

It is also claimed that Apple's first GaN device will be a 65W fast charger with USB-C connector to recharge MacBooks, iPads and who knows if iPhones too. GaN chargers have the advantage of automatically adjusting the output power depending on the device to which they are connected.

An example is the new 61W GaN charger from Choetech. It's about half the size of Apple's current 61W charger for MacBooks.
