Apple defines the MFi requirements for flashes that can be synchronized with the iPhone

Many of you will brand new devices these days, the new iPhone 11 they can be the stars and above all thanks to their photographic qualities that make their main competitors light years away. Today we want to announce that Apple just launched MFi (Made For iPhone) certification for external flashes. Now we can get everything to work harmoniously when taking a photograph.

As we tell you, the iPhone 11 are the perfect devices for taking photography, they are smartphones but they have reached a quite acceptable level. And it is not only the iPhone 11, it is also all the accessories that we can find on the market such as the flashes we are talking about today. Now comes the MFi certification for flashes compatible with the new iPhone 11, a certification that will force manufacturers to make flashes that communicate with the iPhone internally at the same time as they can be synchronized with many other accessories.

The new specifications will allow an accessory's lighting or strobe component to sync with the device's built-in flash and will also transmit the strobe sync signal wirelessly to additional accessories. In theory, the Lightning connection could also allow accessories to simultaneously draw or power Lightning, as is the case with other MFi accessories like batteries, game controllers, and headphones.

This is very interesting since although there are some other accessories that already offered similar functions, none had any MFi certification, therefore these were based solely on Bluetooth and precisely that standard protocol was what limited the integration of these flashes with the Camera app. We will see how this affects the accessories already available on the market and see how they improve external flashes for iPhone.
