Apple hires a former Google engineer with experience in electric cars

Apple Car Concept

The Mountain View company, Google, obtained a patent registration a few days ago on a new charging system for electric vehicles. One of the people who had worked on that patent was Kurt Adelberger, who He left the company in July of last year to join Apple. This incorporation would mean one more fact that Apple would be working on an electric vehicle. As we can read on the LinkedIn profile, Kurt is currently working as a product designer for Apple. Obviously it is not going to indicate that it is working on the Titan project, under which the company would be developing an electric and autonomous vehicle.

While at Google, Kurt focused on reduce the charging time of the company's electric vehicle by 34%, as well as in developing the energy management and storage system. The patent that Google registered and that has just obtained the approval, describes a device that allows us to manage the connections between the electric vehicle and the charging station to try to speed up the charging time of the batteries. But this patent also allows the charger to obtain data about the vehicle and the battery in order to optimize the charge.

Kurt has extensive knowledge of charging systems and obtaining electricity by different means. In fact, he was in charge of an energy storage system that is obtained through the different solar panels that the Google company has in its Mountain View facilities. Having previously worked on the development of Google's electric vehicle, everything seems to indicate that it will currently be focused on the Apple Car, or it could be in charge of managing the electricity that Campus 2 will need, electricity that will be obtained exclusively from solar panels located in the upper part of the building.
