Sometimes we read articles about glasses augmented reality of Apple as if they were something of the future, like the one that reads about flying cars, or teleportation cabins. But we are not aware that there are many people in the company who are working on such a project every day.
The least expected day, it will appear Tim Cook in a keynote with some sunsets, and then we will realize that flying cars are already a reality, and we can go to a dealership to buy one. That if, paying the taste and the desire ...
Apple is working on developing a system that could integrate experiences from 3D spatial audio on virtual or mixed reality platforms, potentially for a head-mounted device like Apple Glass, or an augmented reality headset.
Those from Cupertino have just won a new license which describes a 3D spatial synthesized audio system for application in augmented reality 3D vision devices.
The patent explains that, for example, a SR system it could detect an individual walking a few steps forward and, in response, adjust the graphics and audio presented to the individual in a manner similar to how such sights and sounds would change in a real physical environment.
The patent lists Ian M. Richter, Christopher Eubank, and Tomlinson Holman as its creators. Richter and Eubank have been named in earlier patents related to 'Apple Glass“While Holman is an audio expert who has worked on patents related to AirPods. Holman is also the inventor of the THX hi-fi audio system from Lucasfilm. Little joke.
Remember that even if patents are granted to a company, it is possible that the idea described in that report never materialize. It costs very little to patent an idea, and make sure your competition won't "copy" it.
