Apple launches iOS 12.3 with the new TV app

After several weeks of testing, Apple has released iOS 12.3, the third biggest update since iOS 12 was released last September. This update comes hand in hand with tvOS 12.3 and watchOS 5.2.1, versions that have also been in beta for weeks.

All these updates are available to all users with compatible devices, either via OTA, from the device itself by accessing “Settings> General> Software update”Or from iTunes by connecting our smartphone to the computer. The new TV application is the main protagonist of this update, but there are other changes that we will tell you about below.

One app to rule them all

The new TV application arrives in order to be the place where all the video streaming services are brought together. It will be an application where we can see all the series and movies to which we have access through the services we have contracted, and where we can see them without having to open any third-party application. We can watch HBO's Games of Thrones without having to use the service's unfortunate native application, something that will really benefit users in their experience when using it. We will also receive recommendations for other services that we have installed, such as Netflix, but these contents will have to be viewed in their own application.

In addition to being available in iOS 12.3, this TV application comes to Apple TV since the update to tvOS 12.3, also available for download on Apple TV HD and 4K. It will also come to Apple TV 3 in an update that will arrive soon and that will make this application appear on the main screen of this device that does not have tvOS. Starting this fall, this application will be functional in Spain, along with Apple TV +, Apple's streaming service that will of course be available from the TV application.

Watch 5.2.1

In addition to these updates to iOS 12.3 and tvOS 12.3, a minor update is coming to the Apple Watch. WatchOS 5.2.1, a version that fixes bugs and improves performance, and also launches the new ECG functionality and irregular rhythm notifications to countries such as Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, Czech Republic and Iceland. This functionality is already available from watchOS 5.2 in Spain, as we tell you in this video where we also explain how it works.
