Apple Pay prepares for its arrival in Italy

A few hours ago we told you how Apple made its arrival in Ireland official, thus completing a total of 14 countries in which Apple's mobile payment service is available, among which Spain has been for a few months. Well, it seems that the company is giving a strong push to its payment system because everything indicates that the incorporation of a new country will be imminent: Italy. The Apple Pay website in that country is already active and announces that it will soon be available, even indicating the financial services with which it will arrive.

The Apple Pay Italia website is now available from this link, open for anyone to consult the information, which does not go beyond pointing to the next launch in that country and giving basic instructions on how the service works. But we can also see which entities will be the ones that will be compatible with Apple Pay, and UniCredit, Boon and Carrefour Banca are included.. As for issuers of credit cards, it will come from the hand of Visa and MasterCard.

Apple Pay arrived in Spain last December, more than three months ago, thanks to Banco Santander, Carrefour, American Express and Ticket Restaurant. After all this time, no other financial institution has confirmed the intention to enter the payment system with Apple's mobile phone, and although there is much rumor about the entry of ING, especially after its inclusion in Australia, Spanish financial institutions are reluctant to join Apple Pay and continue to bet on their own payment systems such as Bizum, a platform made up of more than 30 entities and that has barely had an impact on users. Will this new wave of countries joining Apple Pay mean the arrival of new entities in Spain? We will cross our fingers.
