At the beginning of March, Apple proceeded to close all the Apple Stores that it has around the world, except those in China, since these had closed at the beginning of February. As the pandemic has been decreasing its incidence in China, little by little, Apple began to open stores in the Asian country and all of them are open to the public today.
Of all the Apple Stores that Apple has outside of China, only one has had the opportunity to open its doors, the Apple Store that is located in the center of Seoul, South Korea. Apple's initial plans go through reopen all Apple Stores next May, according to Deirdre O'Brien.
Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's vice president in charge of retail sales, both through the Apple Store online and through physical stores, has sent a video to Apple Store employees stating that she plans to open stores again during the month of May. From Bloomberg, they affirm that in Apple they are analyzing the situation independently in each Apple Store and that the most probable is that the stores will reopen their doors throughout the month of May, as long as the government of the country allows it.
The reopening dates of the Apple Store have been changing as the weeks have passed. After announcing the first closure in mid-March, Apple intended to reopen stores in late March. As the reopening date approached, Apple announced that the stores would remain closed until further notice. The new date planned by Apple to open the Apple Store will not only depend on the evolution of the pandemic, but also on the measures established by governments regarding freedom of movement.
