watchOS 3.0, Apple introduces third operating system for Apple Watch in 18 months

El Apple Watch It was one of the most anticipated devices on the block. There were already several interesting smartwatches, but most thought that smartwatches could do something else. In Cupertino they had enough patience to wait for the best moment and launch what for many is the best smartwatch on the market, a launch that took place in April 2015. Of course, after being unveiled in September 2014 and showing the world its Digital Crown, its Force Touch screen (yes, a year before Huawei) and what would later become known as watchOS.

I wanted to start this post by looking a little back in time for what the headline reads: the Apple Watch went on sale in April 2015 with the first version of its operating system, but two months later, at the WWDC now A year ago, they introduced watchOS 2.0 with several interesting new features, such as support for native applications. If we take into account the time since the first users have been using the apple smart watch, right now they have unveiled the third version, Watch 3.0, in just 14 months, which will be 18 when it is publicly released.

Apple introduces watchOS 3.0

The presentation of watchOS 3.0 has gone quite fast, probably because they have something much more important to present today, but they have presented some interesting news, such as new spheres and new animations. But this is nothing compared to the arrival of the Control center, which we already have on iOS since iOS 7.

On the other hand, watchOS 3.0 will also have available a multitask like the one in iOS 8, with the cards vertically, as you can see in the previous screenshot. In addition, the new version of the operating system for Apple's smartwatch introduces manual writing, that is, we can write with our finger as we would with a pen.

And do you remember Mickey Mouse? It was one of the most applauded spheres (which I personally do not understand) when the Apple Watch was introduced in April 2015 and now its companion, Minnie, will also be available.

But don't think Minie will be the only new sphere. There will be others, such as the following:

One of the strengths of the Apple Watch is when we use it for sports. In this sense there will also be news, such as Activity sharing, which will be for us to share with other people what we have achieved. On the other hand, an Apple Watch with watchOS 3.0 will be more useful for people in a wheelchair, for example.
