Apple releases a new version of AirTags firmware

Apple has just released a new version of the firmware of the location beacons called AirTags, a new version that arrives two months after the previous one, a previous version that introduced improvements in the anti-bullying functions to prevent these beacons from being used for what they are not intended or designed.

This new firmware version is 1.0.291 with build number 1A291a replaces the previous version, with firmware number 1.0.276 and build number 1A287b. If the beacon is close to your iPhone, chances are it's already has been automatically updated to this new version.

If your AirTags are still on version 1.0.276, you don't have to do absolutely anything, since these are updated automatically, just like the AirPods do with each new version of the firmware that Apple releases.

To check the firmware version of your AirTags, you must access the Search application, find the beacon you want to check if it has been updated and click on their name to show the serial number together the firmware version.

At the moment, Apple has not informed about the news, improvements or corrections of errors of this new version. Apple has previously confirmed that works on an Android app that will detect AirTags and other accessories compatible with the Search application, but for now there is no new app available on the Play StoreSo it appears that this new firmware update will not offer this functionality.

We will have to wait a few days to know what the details of this new update are, unless it only integrates performance improvements to features already available.
