Updates day in the Apple universe. All your devices receive a new update of their corresponding software today. For iPhones, the new iOS 14.6, and iPadOS 14.6 for iPads, which after many betas have finally just been released for all users.
A new update with notable improvements, such as support for Apple Card Family, subscriptions to podcasts, and improvements in the control of the new AirTags.
Apple just released iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 a few minutes ago for all users. This update includes support for apple card family, Apple podcast subscriptions, improvements in the control of new Air Tag and important security fixes.
As usual, you can update your iPhone by going to the "Settings" application, choosing "General" and then choosing "Software Update".
Apple Card Family and Podcast Subscriptions
It has only been a month since the last update, iOS 14.5, but it is nonetheless less important. One of its main novelties is undoubtedly the incorporation of Apple Card Family, allowing share Apple Card with other family members.
iOS 14.6 also supports the Podcasts app for Apple's new podcasting platform. This allows podcasts to offer subscriptions Pay to your shows with bonus content like ad-free episodes and subscriber-only episodes.
Other new features in iOS 14.6 include updates for the Air Tag, accessibility improvements, and a variety of internal bug fixes.
The novelty in the AirTag section is to be able to add a email instead of a phone number when you activate the lost mode of an AirTag.
In this way the AirTag will show the phone number partially masked when touched with an NFC-compatible device, and it will only display the email address.
Apart from these new features, it also fixes the following problems found in previous versions:
- Unlocking with Apple Watch may not work after using Lock iPhone on Apple Watch.
- Reminders can appear as blank lines.
- Call blocking extensions may not appear in Settings.
- Bluetooth devices can sometimes disconnect or send audio to a different device during an active call.
- The iPhone may experience reduced performance during startup.
The rest of the corrections are internal security, which go completely unnoticed by the end user.
