Apple removes the application that turned our iPhone into an iPod

iPod

For several years we have seen how the design of the past is back in fashion, not only in clothing, but also in technology. The last example related to Apple, we found it in the Rewound application, an application that allowed turn our iPhone into an iPod, offering a very similar experience thanks to the haptic feedback from the screen.

The Rewound app, which incomprehensibly became available on the App Store, has just been withdrawn by Apple, as expected. The developer behind the application has published a blog post in which he reports the removal of his application from the App Store and the reasons alleged by Apple.

This application that is really a music player, allowed us show classic iPod interface, application that had access to the Apple Music library. In future updates, Louis Anslow, intended to add support to the Spotify library in addition to adding a widget. But all the intentions that Louis had have come to nothing.

Louis claims that Rewound "made it possible to personalize the iPhone with an MP3 player look from the previous decade," an application that had become very popular in many countries, but has had a very short life. The reason Apple decided to remove Rewound from the App Store is that could be mistaken for an Apple product that also had a similar design to Apple Music.

If we wanted to show us a design similar to the classic iPod, we had to download a skin. Louis says that he is working to make the application available again in the App Store, although it is difficult without breaking the current experience that it offers to the more than 170.000 users who downloaded the application and the corresponding skin.
