We now focus on the second quarter of its history, from 1986 to 1996, perhaps the most difficult time, without Steve Jobs at the helm, Apple suffered a setback and many gave it up for dead.
1986, seizure and little hope at Apple
A year earlier Steve Jobs had left Apple, his battle against Sculley, whom he himself had hired only two years earlier, had ended with casualties and the future of the company was quite bleak. Apple did not stop trying to innovate, to launch something on the market that would make its buyers not be able to live without its products, for example the first "portable" Macintosh arrived in 1989 which would later be replaced by the "PowerBook«, A more logical laptop with specifications that made sense. The software also suffered a little tweak, System 7 would be the standard for quite a few years.

Apple shares were bottoming out and by 1994 it was almost unsustainable.

Apple did something that Steve Jobs never forgave, he allied with IBM, the arch enemy. The intention was that IBM and Motorola would take care of the hardware, which Apple had been given so badly since the Apple II, to dedicate themselves to the software. However, Microsoft was still in the lead, PCs grew by the day, Mac OS was not up to scratch.
This is when the executives looked back, they realized that they were doing badly with Steve Jobs, but without him they were doing much worse. Despite the fact that NeXT had no future, good old Steve did not stop monopolizing covers and rumors about his new productions. In fact, he had just presented a computer from NeXT, a black cube that made no sense in the market, but that Apple looked at suspiciously, they needed something like that. It was when they decided to talk to Steve and acquire his company, merge it with Apple, this was the return of Jobs to his company, the one he saw born and the one he wanted to see die.
