Apple TV universal search integrates with Disney Channel and more TV channels

siri tvos

El Apple TV The fourth generation will allow us to search for content using the Siri Remote and find results from different providers. In this way, if we search for a movie, we will see results from iTunes and, if available, from Netflix, for example. The last to take advantage of this function has been Disney and now we can also find Disney Channel results, Disney Jr and Disney XD  by ABC. Using Siri, users who have these channels available (I do not see them in the Spanish tvOS App Store) will be able to navigate by viewing the options of the tvOS applications add-on.

This feature has been available on tvOS since the fourth-generation Apple TV went on sale in late October 2015. Initially, the universal search tvOS was only compatible with iTunes, Netflix, Hulo, Showtime, and HBO. Soon after, Apple promised to open up the Universal Search API so that other developers and content providers could take advantage of this feature, but adoption is not as fast as users might have hoped. The first apps to include tvOS universal search after its opening were PBS and PBS Kids, this as early as January. Fox, FX, and Nat Geo joined the list in early February.

This function continues to demonstrate the potential of the fourth generation Apple TV, but is somewhat more limited in countries such as Spain. We Spaniards cannot, for example, search for series on iTunes. We also don't have access to many of the apps that are implementing the universal search for the operating system from Apple's latest set-top box. In any case, we can take advantage of Netflix, since since the end of 2015 it is also available in our country.

And you? Are you taking advantage of the universal search for Apple's latest set-top box?
