If you were to ask me what would be the best reason to buy a Apple Watch, I think you would say its sports functions. The apple smartwatch is a smart watch that means that we don't have to look at our iPhone so much, which is especially good at times like when we do any sports activity. If running is what we like, the Apple Watch has a function that will allow you to stop counting when we stop running.
It may seem unimportant, but in reality it is not. For example, Runtastic has a similar option if we are running, but it does not work if we do another sport such as cycling and the data it offers may not be real, showing the total sum even though we have stopped at a fountain to refill our water cans. If you want your Apple Watch to only count when you are on the go, you just have to activate the option from the settings.
How to activate the option to stop counting when Apple Watch stops running
- We open the Watch application from the iPhone that is paired.
- Let's go to the My watch / Training section.
- Finally, we activate the option by tapping on the switch or toggle It says "Automatic pauses when running."
As we can read under the option, «If this option is enabled, treadmill or outdoor workouts will automatically pause when you stop and resume when you start.«.
If we prefer to be the ones to tell you when to stop counting, we can do it pressing the Digital Crown and the side button at the same time. Keep in mind that, if we have activated them (they are deactivated by default in watchOS 3), when we do this we will also take a screenshot.
Personally, I would like this feature to be available for other types of training as well, such as cycling. But hey, if we do sports other than running, in the App Store there are many applications for any type of sport, so I think we are covered.
Well, I can't find where I train or is it only for watchOS 3?
and this is only for watchOS 3? or apple watch series 2 because I can't find where I train?
Hi Pablo, as an MTB fan, what application do you recommend? I have runtastic, but as you say, it does not automatically pause at stops.
Hi Pablo, as an MTB fan, I have runtastic pro mtb that, as you say, does not stop automatically when you stop to rest. Anyway, what application do you recommend? Thanks and regards
Hello, I am also a fan of MTB and without any doubt the best application to record your routes and see your progress is ESTRAVA, greetings.
Hello friend, I am also a fan of MTB and without any doubt to record your workouts and follow your progress the best application is STRAVA and if it has auto pause, greetings.
Hello Andres. As Pinxo tells you, Strava does it. I've been using Runtastic for a long time because it seems like more famous, but just this week I'm going to start testing Strava. It is widespread among cyclists and offers more information. It is also compatible with some sensors (speed, cadence, pulse…). Ultimately, it is best for runners and cyclists. I will try to start both (Runtastic and Strava) to see which one I like the most and I will decide.
UIn greeting.
pablo can you help me this is only for watchOS 3? or apple watch series 2 because I can't find where I train?
Hello, igodoy. I am still waiting for my Apple Watch, but I confirm that the function is available on the original model. WatchOS 3 may be required.
A greeting.
