It appears that Apple's plans to reduce the current stock of the Apple Watch have worked. A few months ago Apple started lower the price of its main models, clearly with the intention of starting to reduce the number of devices available before the launch of the new model, whose expected presentation date is September 7, along with the iPhone 7, although it would not go on sale until the end of the year, just before christmas.
Currently the steel Apple Watch is not available in many physical Apple Stores and if someone wants to buy it you have to do it through the online store. At the moment only one steel Apple Watch model is available online and several of the aluminum models have also run out of stock online but are in a greater number than the aluminum model.
All seem to indicate that Apple wants to stop selling the steel model of the first generation Apple Watch and leave only the aluminum model for sale when the Apple Watch 2 is launched, lowering that model even more in price and leaving it as the entry model. A movement similar to the one it makes every time it launches a new iPhone model, where it only leaves the models with less capacity.
The future Apple Watch 2 it will be faster in addition to integrating a GPS that will help users in their outdoor training, being able to know at all times the route they have followed without having to carry the iPhone. In addition, according to the latest rumors, this new model will have a higher capacity battery to be able to offer support for the GPS without it being too diminished when we use it.
