Hard setback that Apple has received in the Netherlands, where a judge has just ruled that Apple's repair policy is against the law and that you should, from now on, replace iPads in case of repair with new models, no reconditioned models. IPad "refurbished" will no longer be eligible for replacement of damaged iPad from now on, in a decision that sets a very dangerous precedent for the company that may be forced to change its policy of repairs with its tablet.
Anyone who has had to take an iPad for repair at an Apple Store will already know that Apple does not repair iPads, or at least it does not do them directly for the customer. In the vast majority of cases, what the company does is replace the iPad with a reconditioned or "refurbished" model, that is, an iPad that Apple has repaired, revised and certified to be "almost new" but which is not. . In some cases they may even give you a better iPad than the one you delivered, as we told you the other day with lack of stock iPad 4. But this goes against what the law in the Netherlands says, or at least that is what the judge who has brought the lawsuit against Apple for this reason considers it. This judge says that "if the customer pays for a repair, he must receive the same thing he bought, that is, a new iPad". Only if you buy a refurbished iPad will you be able to offer a product of this type.
A very questionable and certainly very controversial decision against which Apple will fight with all its weapons and its legion of lawyers, since the company's purchase conditions, that huge text that none of us read when we buy an Apple product but that we all accept, expressly indicates that in case of repair our iPad may be replaced by a reconditioned one. Therefore it seems that it will not be the last news we have regarding this matter, that's for sure.
