Apple will improve Apple Maps with drones

Apple Maps

Three years ago, Apple introduced the famous and beautiful Aerial screensavers for its Apple TVs. Since then more and more videos have been appearing. New locations and different ways of recording.

And, three years ago, I was wondering how Apple would be recording those images. With a search, I found out they were helicopters and drones.

Now it seems that Apple also wants to use drones to improve its maps, Apple Maps. Despite the not so brilliant premiere, Apple Maps has managed to improve and, although there are many of us who use Google Maps on our iPhones, we cannot deny that they have improved. This initiative dates back to 2016, but there was nothing confirmed by Apple.

Apple has confirmed its intention to use drones to improve its maps, commenting that privacy (like blurring faces and license plates) will be, as in everything you do, a priority.

Along with this news, Apple announces that it will record aerial images in the State of North Carolina as a drone pilot test program.

With this initiative, he begins a new course to improve Apple Maps. Although, as always, It may take us many years to see this initiative reflected in Apple maps. In addition, the use of drones is only confirmed for the US, but it is expected that this will expand to more countries around the world.

Apple Maps is not improving as fast as we would like. Without going any further, the famous Apple Maps cars that were supposed to create Apple's own Street View have not yet borne fruit. Also, as the cities available with Flyover do not appear as often as a few years ago. (Remember that Flyover was presented in 2014 and that in Spain we have 21 locations).

Drone use can provide Apple with more frequent road and traffic status updates, although I doubt that Apple's plans are focused on a real-time update of the information.
