We do not stop repeating the theme nor does it look like it is going to soften. Augmented reality is being one of the great topics of technological conversation during this year 2017. Apple has the idea of generating a network of devices with access to augmented reality through ARKit.
Apple's Augmented Reality Development Kit is advancing at a much higher rate than other kits. The reason? The great creativity and possibilities that this tool offers. We have seen examples of the moon landing of a spaceship in a swimming pool, a ruler to measure small elements ... Today is the turn of measure and calculate the area of a room.
Developers find great potential in the ARKit
In just two months of the ARKit's existence, we have seen surprising applications and examples that perfectly reflect the symbiosis it represents. Apple with its developers. They are working hard to show that augmented reality does not exist only in expensive glasses, nor with new devices. And that is the message that the big apple gave during WWDC last June: Apple has a large fleet of augmented reality-compatible devices.
In this case we can see an example of the use of augmented reality to save time. In the video that you see at the top of this article you can see how the user is able to go marking the corners of a room. When you capture a strategic location you can move around the room marking other points. At the end, when the last point joins the first, it can be observed the area of the room measured. But the best of all is that as we move around, we see all the previous segments drawn.
This is one more example of the potential of ARKit, one more step in the evolution of augmented reality with which large companies like IKEA can have a great impact on consumer society.
