At the beginning of October we published an article in which we invited all the developers who read us regularly to participate in the first edition of TheAwards awards, a contest in which they are recognized the best applications and games designed in Spain during 2018 and that are available both in the App Store and in the Google Play Store.
On November 15th, the TheAwards awards ceremony took place in Barcelona, awards organized by the app marketing agency PickASO in collaboration with the App Store Optimization tool, The Tool. TheAwards awarded 11 awards being the highest amount for the best Spanish application of 2018, a prize valued at 66.500 euros. The rest of the 10 awards had a valuation of 16.000 euros and represented the best application in each category.
The jury took into consideration different aspects to score each of the applications that were presented to the contest and among which the design, usability, originals, product and marketing stand out. The winner of the first edition of TheAwards was the Agora application, an application that many of you probably already know or use regularly since it has been available for some time in both the App Store and the Google Play Store.
Agora came to the market for offer photographers a platform where they can share their best captures and, incidentally, participate in contests which allows them to obtain extra money as well as recognition and other rewards. This application has an average rating of 4,5 stars out of 5 possible after receiving more than 2.700 comments.
The rest of the 10 categories for the best Spanish applications of 2018, with a prize valued at 16.000 euros, were distributed as follows:
- Best Shopping app: Citibox. Citibox solves one of the great problems faced by all users who buy over the Internet: receiving their package without having to be present at the time of delivery
- Best Creativity and Productivity app: iLovePDF. iLovePDF offers us all the necessary tools to be able to work with PDF files.
- Best Economics, Finance and Business App: EVO Bank. Application to access the accounts of EVO Banco customers.
- Best Education & Magazine App: ABA English. ABA English transfers the educational advantages that are used in online academies to teach English to mobile devices.
- Best Entertainment and Events app: Wegow. Wegow connects users, artists, promoters and brands to immerse them in the world of concerts and festivals.
- Best Lifestyle app: Just Eat. Application to buy food through the establishments associated with this platform.
- Best Games app: Parcheesi. A renewed classic for mobile devices.
- Best Mobility and Travel App: eCooltra. eCooltra offers us more than 3.500 connected electric scooters, which allow users to move freely around the city.
- Best Social Media & Dating App: People. Peoople allows us to discover the best recommendations thanks to your friends and influencers favorites.
- Best Health and Wellness App: topdoctor. Thanks to Top Doctor, we can quickly find the best medical specialist for each case.
In total, prizes worth more than 220.000 euros have been distributed thanks to the collaboration of Amazon Web Services, Huawei, Snapchat among others. The jury for this first edition of TheAwards was made up of:
