BitTorrent announces BitTorrent Live, P2P streaming television

BitTorrent Live

Every time I watch TV for a while (without doing anything else) I think that free-to-air television is very bad, no, the following. I know that there will be people who disagree with me, but, for example, broadcasting a weekly football match in which two teams from the bottom of the table face each other or films from 15 years ago is not exactly the best possible content . But soon a new streaming television option will be called BitTorrentLive, it will work using P2P and could be a game changer.

BitTorrent Live will be a streaming video platform that will broadcast news, sports, music, technology and youth culture. The channels will broadcast live and, at least initially, will only be available for Apple TV, iOS, Mac and Android, so it will put aside Windows, Microsoft's operating system that moves most of the world's computers.

BitTorrent Live will offer streaming television channels

Powered by our proprietary and patented peer-to-peer live streaming protocol, BitTorrent Live enables large audiences to view live video with less than 10 seconds of latency and without the need for an expensive CDN or preview.

Logically, and although they have tried to distance themselves from it, as soon as we read the word BitTorrent we think file exchange and piracy and we have doubts about the content that will be available. At first, the BitTorrent team says that they will make channels such as Fightbox, Newsmax, NUsucTV, One World Sport, OpenNews TV or TWiT available to us but, knowing their trajectory and even if I can be wrong, I would not be surprised if their platform will be used soon to "share" paid channels.

BitTorrent Live will be available for Apple TV this week, but we will still have to wait until next month to be able to use it on iOS and OS X. If you want, you can subscribe in its web page to receive a notification at the exact moment of its launch.

Yes, everything is very nice, but is it exclusively for the US or Spain as well? Will it be in several languages or in English?

Old movies like a lot of people and two teams from the bottom of the table may also like them, especially fans of those two teams. Not everything is Madrid or Barcelona. You can see on the news that only these two cities exist. The problem is the amount of ads there are. 15 minutes of ads is not normal and makes people turn off the TV or search other sites for content that interests them ... like the web. Hence, TV is as bad as you say.
