BMW will support CarPlay in the M3 and M4 range

CarPlay, another one of the many software services that Apple has been launching in the last three or four years, and which is also suffering from a slow expansion. In true Apple Pay style, we find that CarPlay is available in a very small number of cars on the general market. Today two more ranges are added, and that is BMW has sworn undying love to CarPlay and will include the option on the BWMs with the M3 and M4 kit. The umpteenth of the brands that joins the CarPlay phenomenon, but it will not be the first that says to join and then does not finish doing it.

An example of the above is Mercedes, the first heralded the arrival of CarPlay and we are still waiting for the German manufacturer to include it in a standardized way. On the other hand, Volkswagen also offers CarPlay as an extra in most of its interesting range, the Passat, the Golf and the Tiguan for example. Nevertheless, it is an extra that is too expensive for what it offers, so the vast majority of buyers choose to take advantage of the Volkswagen operating system for these purposes. The same could happen with BMW, unless it is an extra integrated into the M package.

As most of you know, the M package is the sports version of BMW, available in many of its models. Definitely, the latest models from 2016 and new ones from 2017, They will include the option as an extra to include CarPlay, but once again, they have not deigned to report the price. And the reality is that BMW is one of those brands that loves extras, so we would not be surprised at all if it ended up being prohibitive. We continue to expect Apple to push Apple Pay and CarPlay into the general market and globally.
