CallKit runs into some problems; Apple withholds approval of its extensions

Callkey

One of the most interesting novelties that came from the hand of iOS 10 is CallKit, a new SDK with which developers can add their functions to the iOS Phone application. In this way, for example, we can decide whether to make a WhatsApp call, a Skype call or a conventional call from the application that we have installed by default on the iPhone. But it seems that CallKit is not working as well as Apple would like.

In addition to the option to make calls from third-party applications from the Phone application, CallKit also allows us allows to install blockers of calls or SPAM identifiers, or well, it would allow us if it worked well. Right now, those apps they don't usually work, but it is not the fault of its developers, if not Apple. This is how Rocketship Apps, the developer of CallBlock, explains it.

CallKit gives more problems than expected

We just had a call with the Apple review team and we've both given each other explanations. They have let us know that the call directory extensions, which Callblock is a part of, are intermittently crashing due to problems with CallKit, which is the new framework that Callblock uses to display calls. The issue is expected to be resolved in iOS 10.1 and they have discontinued reviews of these extensions until iOS 10.1 is publicly available.

According to what Rocketship Apps says from what Apple has told them, the issues will be fixed with the official release of iOS 10.1. So far, the only interesting novelty that is known about iOS 10.1 is that it will allow users of an iPhone 7 Plus to take photos with a blurred background, which in the blogosphere (especially Anglo-Saxon) is known as the "Bokeh Effect". If Apple complies with what was promised, another novelty will be that we can use extensions like the one mentioned call block without major problems.
