CarPlay, like Android Auto, are two excellent methods of vehicle entertainment center. However, they are not yet able to fully integrate into the vehicle and control vehicle settings such as air conditioning, seat adjustment, sound system, and provide vehicle information.
However, that could change in the near future as we can read in Bloomberg. This medium claims that Apple is working so that CarPlay can fully interact with the vehicle through the IronHeart project, which is currently in the early stages of development.
However, this is not the first time that Apple has tried something similar. Years ago Apple added APIs that allowed manufacturers to launch vehicle control applications to be available through CarPlay. However, most manufacturers have not used them, probably because do not intend to give up full control from the vehicle dashboard to Apple.
With IronHeart Apple wants, again, that vehicle manufacturers include as much information as possible through CarPlay, including the speed, temperature, humidity in addition to the management of the various elements that are part of the vehicle.
In this way, users will be able to manage all the information related to your vehicle on the iPhone and also, they will not have to exit CarPlay to make certain adjustments.
If when Apple offered this integration, the manufacturers did not use it, I don't quite understand why they will do it now. What is clear is that the more information and control of the vehicle CarPlay offers, the users of an iPhone will enjoy more comfort.
