Comparison: Samsung Galaxy S6 vs iPhone 6 Plus

s6-vs-i6plus-header

The comparisons are hateful, but they have something that we like, and much more when this comparison is made between the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, do not deny it. Samsung has long been criticized for the use of plastic-based materials in the cover of its flagship, but those days are over, the Galaxy S6 comes in a metal unibody format with a design that is too reminiscent of the iPhone. 6 Plus.

We go on to analyze in detail after its recent presentation at the Mobile World Congress the similarities and counterpoints between what are considered the best smartphones on the market.

Design - What does it remind you of?

Galaxy-S6-vs-iPhone-6-Plus-5.JPG

Without a doubt, the Galaxy S6 has been a facelift in the design that Samsung had been using in its devices from the Samsung Galaxy S3 to the Samsung Galaxy S5, they launch to "innovate" and present premium materials for a premium phone, using metal on the frame and glass on the front and back. With a total thickness of 6,8mm and a weight of 138 grams. On the other hand, the iPhone 6 Plus maintains the continuous line of metal and glass designs that have been happening since the iPhone 4 back in 2010.

Samsung has touted the metal of its Galaxy S6 as an extremely tough material, Small indication that they will not allow the rumors that accompanied the release of the iPhone 6 and its "bendgate", although it remains to be seen. With this new design by Samsung we can finally talk that both are on par in this aspect and never better said, since the Samsung Galaxy S6 it surprisingly resembles the iPhone 6 Plus to unsuspected limits, from the curvature of the edges, to the rear hump that the camera bump produces (everything bad sticks). We leave you a video so you can see the differences quickly.

In another third of things, the size of the screen of the Galaxy S6 is 5,1 ″ by the 5,5 ″ of the iPhone 6 Plus, therefore we are not going to speculate on the comfort or not of using one or the other, taking into account Note that for obvious reasons the iPhone 6 Plus is larger and wider, bordering the limits of what we would consider a "phablet."

iOS 8 - Android TouchWiz

Galaxy-S6-vs-iPhone-6-Plus-8.JPG

The eternal debate, you wanted to read it and I am writing it to you. Although all the analyzes point to TouchWiz has noticeably improved performance of the operating system to elaborate an objective analysis between iOS and Android today is no longer an arduous task, but I consider it impossible. Although I will not miss the opportunity to remember that the differences between the two are closer than ever. Samsung knew the cancer of its high-end phones first-hand and has decided to solve it, which although it may not be enough to achieve the level of stability of iOS, shows its intention to improve, something to be thankful for for the users. users.

iOS 8, what to say, we are not going to ignore the criticisms that have arisen due to the numerous changes that those of Cupertino have been introducing in the operating system, which have undoubtedly reduced certain aspects of its stability, especially if we take as a reference the The latest iOS prior to the immense remodeling, iOS 6. However, the user experience is still slightly superior in terms of stability and fluidity for Apple's mobile operating system, with simplicity and ease of use being its maximum.

We can observe once again iOS is the referenceAn example is the launch of Samsung Pay and Samsung's new fingerprint reader, which is a subtle way of admitting that those in Cupertino are one step ahead in certain respects and with the intention of rivaling Apple Pay and Touch ID. , the latter proving to be infinitely superior to the sensor that the Samsung Galaxy S5 already had, which was undoubtedly a patch that Samsung used to face possible criticism.

Display - What do I need?

Samsung did not want to enter into any debate about the quality of its screen that presents a Super AMOLED panel with QuadHD resolution (1440 x 2560) and a pixel density of 577ppi. In addition, in the absence of its outdoor analysis, Samsung says it has improved the brightness to 600nits, which should combat the glare produced by natural light outdoors.

The iPhone 6 Plus offers an LCD panel with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a density of 401ppi in a panel almost half an inch larger. No doubt on paper there is a clear winner, but not everything is numbers in this life. Let's not forget the number of Super AMOLED screens that have caused the famous permanent pixel problem, producing a blurry but permanent old image smear on the screen, or oversaturated colors. Here the question is to what extent it costs to weaken the battery and the possible performance to offer a density of pixels per inch that we can clearly consider imperceptible to the conventional human being.

Perhaps we should consider fidelity to reality in the reproduction of colors, for example it was easy to check an unrealistic and oversaturated range of colors in the Galaxy S5, which for example when taking photos offered a feeling of perfection that later It did not correspond to reality once the photos were viewed outside the device screen, compared to the precision and fidelity that Apple screens offer. However, undoubtedly in Cupertino they should be thinking of abandoning the LCD panels to jump on the bandwagon of advances and offer other types of screens that well applied could be of great help for battery consumption.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S6 has a 16 megapixel main camera, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a sensor with half the number of megapixels (8 mpx). Once again, on paper the camera of the Samsung Galaxy S6 should be notably superior to that of the iPhone 6 Plus, but we once again shine a light on reality as we have already seen between the iPhone 5S camera and the Galaxy S5 camera, anyone with some knowledge of photography is knowledgeable about more megapixels do not necessarily offer better image quality, taking into account the megapixel range that is handled today and the use that we are going to give it.

Camera-Samsung-Galaxy-S6

Both have optical image stabilization (OIS), however Samsung wanted to put more emphasis on this aspect, comparing its camera with that of the iPhone 6 Plus live, where we could appreciate Samsung's slight superiority compared to Apple in photographs with light circumstances adverse, although it would not be the first time that Samsung offers us photographs that look fantastic from the device well combined with the screen that at the moment of truth do not look as good as the smartphone wants to show us.

Battery duration

Samsung likes this war, and a lot, going so far as to call iPhone users "wall huggers." According to rumors, the battery of the Samsung Galaxy S6 has dropped from 2,800mAh in the S5 to 2,550mAh, with the exception that the new chip is supposedly more efficient, as well as its screen and operating system management, thusThey are sure it will be able to achieve the results of the 2,195mAh battery of the iPhone 6 Plus that offers nothing more and nothing less than 12h of WiFi and LTE browsing and 12h of video playback, although we highly doubt that it will reach the 80h of music playback that the iPhone 6 Plus allows.

However, the theme of the battery depends a lot on the use that each person gives individually to the smartphone, being clearly for most mortals the battery of any device is scarce, in few occasions a normal user will risk not plugging into the network your smartphone at night.

Performance - Numbers and more numbers

The Galaxy S6 features an octa-core chip, and is the first phone to come with a 14nm chip, according to the company. Samsung did not say that the Exynos 7420 is being used, but all indications point in that direction. With four powerful cores running at 2,1GHz on a Cortex A57S in the Galaxy S6 and four efficient ones based on a Cortex A53s up to 1,5GHz. However, we once again suffer the deception of numbers, as a general rule the applications use a single core and this is where the iPhone 6 Plus stands out.

Obviously, the processor power goes hand in hand with the optimization of the operating system, this is where we observe that Apple once again takes advantage of the lower power of its processor, possibly offering a user experience that is at least comparable.

Performance-iphone-vs-samsung

The positive hardware aspect is that Samsung has eliminated the 16Gb version of memory in its Galaxy S6, a fact that Tim Cook and his employees should take note of, clearly with the volume of data handled today 16Gb can be considered very little, although we can consider the elimination of the 16Gb model as a response to future criticism for suppressing the expandable memory, we remember that the new Samsung is unibody, therefore you cannot insert a memory card to expand the capacity, nor remove Battery.

Conclusions

It is early, very early to know the pros and cons of the new Galaxy S6, much less compare it with a device that has been on the market for months like the iPhone 6 Plus, however we must bear in mind that Samsung is there, as always, offering a high-end and successful product in sales, that presents some features and possibilities at the forefront of Android devices.

Perhaps the permanent feeling that they are one step behind in certain things such as the fingerprint sensor, the optimization of the software or the use of materials of a certain quality leaves a bit of a bad taste. But Samsung is still up there, offering its audience what they ask for, which is to be appreciated. Without a doubt, we are facing a great terminal.

A query. The last two tests that come out, why is not the comparison with the iphone 6 plus? Is it because it is some feature that both devices do not share?

When you make a comparison you must put aside your preferences. In this post it is clearly seen that he is inclined to iphone, that makes one doubt a lot if what he says is true or is it because he is a fan of Apple.

Exactly my friend, as soon as I read the first lines, I thought about going to another website but I decided to know where this ended. They thought that speaking well of Samsung in the conclusion would solve everything that was detailed above. It is more than obvious that these people are on the side of Apple "actualidadadiphone.com", which is not bad, but if it is bad if you plan to make a comparison and "pamper" your most beloved smartphone. in sharing it is necessary to be totally impartial.
Design - What does it remind you of ?, iOS 8 - Android TouchWiz, Display - What do you need ?, Camera, Battery life, Performance - Numbers and more numbers
Issues like Screen, Camera, Battery life and Performance (processor) is OBVIOUS that the clear winner of SAMSUNG, but hey .. they would not put that is http://www.actualidadIPHONE.com or if?

My mother! You should be ashamed of yourself, apart from being a bad copywriter, your objectivity is on the ground, not to mention your fanaticism tattooed on your forehead. What makes me laugh is the part where it says ... «On the other hand, the iPhone 6 Plus maintains the continuous line of metal and glass designs that have been happening since the iPhone 4 back in 2010»

metal and glass on iphone 6 plus? Unless you are referring to the screen glass, that gives an idea that maybe your screen can be built in metal as well. A metal screen !!
The point here is that the comparison must be made in the case, not including the screen, that is more than obvious that any smartphone uses these materials. If we talk about copying the iPhone 6+ it is a descendant of the HTC, which even its rear lines gives it a touch of an incomplete smartphone (prototype). Anyway. The pros and cons should be highlighted from both teams, since in the end what matters is the user, fanaticism and defending brands is to value their crap.

Goodnight. Thank you for sharing your opinion, I would like to know in which parts of the post you consider that the writing is bad to review it, or what other posts of mine you have read to correct them.

The iPhone has a completely glass front, both the top and the bottom, many other terminals that have plastic frames beyond the screen cannot say that, especially when they have physical buttons (as is the case with the iPhone with the home button ).

When it comes to making criticisms, let's try to give examples so that everyone understands our position and thus carry them out in a well-founded way. Greetings and thank you.

The rear lines of the iPhone 6 are totally necessary to avoid the Faraday effect which would leave the terminal with a very low signal strength.

On the other hand, both the video and the photographs as well cited at the end are external and linked sources (in addition to being highly recognized) that allow you to go to them to compare opinions and also subscribe to almost all of the opinions that I have developed. .

      Greetings and thank you.

I don't understand, this is an iphone blog but it looks like android. Comparing IOS with Android seems like an aberration to me, it is almost sacrilegious. They do not look alike. Those of us who have decided to buy an iPhone do so for the most part because we are tired of the instability of Android, in my case I never want to have to return to a system full of so many imperfections, such as the famous lag, the customization layers of the manufacturers that turn their terminals into a drag. Quad HD screens that eat the battery, like the LG G3 and not to mention the brightness of its screen which is terrible. Samsung is not far behind with its »touchwiz» it is very heavy and consequently responsible for the lag in Samsung, not to mention the problems caused by low-quality construction materials such as the Bottom home, the S5 fingerprint sensor which it was a failure, which made sales of that model a failure. I write this from experience since I always had Android terminals, HTC Desire, Samsung S4 and S5 and LG G3. Those who have doubts can check the complaints of Android users on blogs like Androidpit, they are many more than we have in IOS. I want to make it clear that I respect the opinion of those who prefer Android, but I understand that this is not the forum according to their preferences, this blog is designed to make life easier for IOS users and it is not about being a fanboy, is that when you want pizza you go to a pizzeria and when you want Chinese food it is logical that you go to a Chinese restaurant.

    1.    morlesdon said

Excuse me, but all that lag is funny seeing the terminals that you have handled, a failure in sales on the s5 hahaha but if I surpass the s4 easily, layers of customization that make the team heavy, I think none since that is why they have power, it is like giving an example of 2 computers, one with a light operating system but with little ram and another with a lot of power but with a very heavy system, the first one can presume that it starts up faster or that it opens things faster, but the second will jump when the time comes to make use of all that it brings. For example, put the music player on an LGG3 or an S5, use the multi-window in one, put a heavy game, in another YouTube, watch a video and pass it to the window, you will see that everything will be running at the same time and without lag between them, That is the power of having more ram and a better processor, well not better but with more multitasking utility, maybe there will not be a faster game, but it does let you have more things, try to do the same on the iphone and we will see how much your 1gb holds of ram.

It makes no sense to compare Samsung with iPhone because it will never beat you in speed and performance. The rock has not yet learned that a company that designs both the operating system and the physical telephone is so well optimized that it will never have a competitor. The S6 will be a great call yes, without a doubt the best among android devices, but compare it with iPhone? Jamaás. Then we will be branded as Fanboys but it is the harsh reality. Another different thing is that Samsung and its Lollipop have interesting things and that are more cool than iOS such as their freedom or personalization layer. But all that is affected when, no matter how many 3GB you have and 8 cores, the lags will always be present. Therefore little more to say gentlemen.

What a shame as there are people who still start to say and compare a real Smartphone with a toy, the S6 is simply a beauty and at the same time a beast with his ex and he has erased any attempt to be something from the iPhone, a team that also has lags like so much they proclaim the fanboys and constant reboots and a battery that gives pain but in the end nothing makes them happy according to them everything comes from the supreme power of the Cupertino god

Comparing a cell phone that has been on the market for 6 months like the iPhone with the Galaxy S6 is not a fair fight since the Samsung people have had time to observe their errors and failures in the iPhone and the only thing they do is redesign their positive points. negative so they do not make the mistakes of their opponent but the good side of these two rivals is that thanks to their competition we have the best smartphones at the moment my opinion is that these two companies undoubtedly deserve the respect of all for their great achievements

After having gone through several Samsung terminals (S2, S3, Note 3) I have decided on the IPhone 6 plus. They will label me as posh, that I only look for fashion, that all I want is to show off, but what I am totally convinced of is that I finally have a Smartphone that is not going to restart every two by three, which for me The job is great for me, that it has a screen that can be seen perfectly outdoors, that the battery life is sufficient for me and that the camera is correct (I hardly use this resource). Of course I do not doubt that the S6 is a great terminal but Samsung, for me, never again.

    For Miguel Hernández
Following your proposal that you presented: «When making criticisms, let's try to give examples so that everyone understands our position and thus carry them out in a well-founded way. »

    I expose you the following:

I have a plan in movistar that allows access to high-end equipment and I wanted to change my equipment (Samsung S4) for a more modern one, I was undecided since there were friends who told me that the iPhone was better and others said that Samsung. I listened to those who advised me iPhone since I had never used one, also the new model IPhone 6 Plus came out, which they claimed was the best of all smartphones.

When I changed it, I found that there were things that I used daily on my Samsung and now with iPhone 6 plus they are impossible

    1-FILE TRANSFER
Situation: On a PC or notebook I found a text, an important and interesting article, or a video, music, photo that was on any PC, with the cable I passed it to my Cellphone and I was watching, listening and reading it whenever I wanted (Waiting in a row, in a moment of rest, on the way to my house, etc ...) even arriving at a friend's house, I could transfer the file with the same cable to his PC or Notebook

Samsung: I use Any Cable and a PC
IPhone 6 plus: PC or Notebook must have installed the latest version of Itunes, original cable and practically impossibility of transferring videos from my Cellphone to the PC

    2-ORGANIZATION OF FILES
Situation: On my cell phone I manage my files as I do with my PC or Notebook, being able to choose if I store them on the phone or on the memory card, I can rename, delete, add the folders, even put the entire folder inside another

Samsung: Folder Organization as in Windows Explorer ... for example I had my files organized in folders: Videos folder, books folder, PDF documents, word, excel, etc ..
Iphone 6 Plus: Impossible to do it since there is no option !!!

    3-MULTIMEDIA FILES

Samsung: See all the videos and listen to mp3s that I have on my PC just by transferring it
Iphone 6 plus: Pay to listen to the mp3s that I already have !!!

    4-RING TONES: Personalization
Samsung: I put a different song or part of a song in particular for each group of contacts, if a family member called, it sounded different than when a friend called or a co-worker called, so from the music I could tell who was calling.
Iphone 6 plus: Only the default tones

    5- CUSTOMIZATION: Screens, icons, widgets
    Samsung: Many options
    Iphone 6 Plus: Fully limited

    6-BATTERY:
Samsung: 5 hours app using full multimedia and Internet
Iphone 6 Plus: Without occupying it lasts the day or a little more, using full multimedia and internet hopefully 3 hours, so I have to carry a charger everywhere

    7-STORAGE:
Samsung: 16 GB Phone + 16 GB Memory Card
Iphone 6 plus: 16 GB ... only with the default applications, without installing anything I have 10,4 GB available
I put the same mp3s and family videos that I had stored in my Samsung and I had 2,4 gb available
After a few months my friends send me files and videos via WhatsApp… I check and find that I have only 0,8GB available
WITH IPHONE 6 PLUS I MUST BE FORCED TO TRANSFER (WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY USING ITUNES) the files from my Cell phone to the notebook or simply be forced to delete them

8-USE PENDRIVE ON MY CELL PHONE !!!
Transfer files from a pendrive to my cell phone or vice versa - using only one cable.

Samsung: There is a cable with the Samsung terminal and the other female USB end, so I connect a pendrive to my Cell phone, I go to the menus of my cell phone, I look in the folders for the files on the pendrive and I read them or I can move them to my cellphone
Iphone 6 Plus: Zero possibilities !!!

9-ACCESS TO NEW FUNCTIONALITIES THROUGH APPLICATIONS

    RECORD CALLS
Samsung: «Call Recorder» Completely FREE application, I can record, save, manage, send recording to email, by text message ... incoming and outgoing calls
Iphone: »TapeACall» I have to pay: Recorded incoming only, and a beep warns the other person with an interval of 1 minute that it is being recorded..plop !!
"IntCall" and "CallRecorder" I have to pay for the application and also buy "Bags of minutes", if I run out of "bag" I cannot continue recording "

    LOCK APPS
Samsung: »CM Security» I can choose which application I can block like Facebook and WhatsApp with a password and if someone tries to enter them, they secretly take a photo of the intruder and send it to me by email TOTALLY FREE !!
Iphone 6 plus: I can only BUY ... very limited applications that only block photos and not applications

    GAMES
    Samsung: Free variety
Iphone 6 plus: They charge me even the Angry birds !!!

For me, the main thing about a cell phone is that, through its technology, it allows me to enjoy new features and make life easier, since a cell phone is something that you always carry with you and use daily (especially in my work, I am a consultant for Business)

Variables such as "Having a cell phone to prove status" I find it stupid !!, a technological product contributes when it gives me the possibility of access to features that are useful to me in my daily life (portability of files, utilities, personalization, etc.)

My Iphone 6 plus will be mine after 18 months according to my plan, otherwise I would have exchanged it for an S5

I regret having listened to some who assured me that the iPhone was better, now I understand that their judgment is only based on abstract concepts such as "Brand Image" or a false prejudice of "Status"
»You cannot compare a Korean device with an American one» (Note, the iPhone is assembled in China)

1-FILE TRANSFER: iTunes carries the iPhone drivers, it is as necessary as the drivers of any Android device, the Xperia does not generally work without them either. Transferring videos to your iPhone is as easy as any Android device, for this there are countless programs, iTools, iMazing, Dr.Phone… .. etc.

2- On an iOS cell phone you simply don't need it, because all the Apps that need it, such as clouds or file managers, have their desktop version. An iOS phone does not function differently depending on the order of its files.

3- MULTIMEDIA FILES: Paying to listen to music is a matter of ethics, morals and shame for the work of others, but in any way, playing an MP3 on an iPhone is as easy as on an Android, put the music in and throw it away miles, there is no paid or unpaid song detector, so your ignorance is shown here once again.

4- RINGTONES: You can put as many songs as you want as a ringtone, in ActualidadiPhone There are numerous tutorials about it and in the App Store numerous applications that do it for you, in fact, they are among the most downloaded. Another display of ignorance.

5- CUSTOMIZATION: I take it for granted that you don't even know what Jailbreak is in view of such a statement.

6- BATTERY: On this same page you have an analysis of the real battery consumption, carried out with a study of weeks that distort your words, it is among my published articles.

7- STORAGE: 16Gb + 16Gb memory card = 32Gb iPhone. If you want a device with more storage you just have to go to the store and buy it. If you are not willing to pay your price for it, take another. I would like a 400 hp Ferrari but I cannot afford it.

8- 8-USE PENDRIVE ON MY CELL PHONE: I leave you once again a link this week about an article, about a pendrive for your iOS cell phone: https://www.actualidadiphone.com/sandisk-ixpand-analisis/ . Once again, ignorance.

RECORD CALLS: Hundreds of Jailbreak tweaks.
LOCK APPS: It is not necessary in iOS that has a correct management of RAM unlike Android.
GAMES: Exactly the same, in fact iOS has many more exclusive or exclusive games. Paying for them is a duty, not a right.

I ask you, learn to use the phone you have, and if you need help, here is this page, but do not make arguments so cheap or easy to collapse, note that none have taken me more than 3 lines to answer.

A greeting and thanks for reading. I hope you take into account the trouble that I have taken to resolve all your doubts.

I have been an IPhone and iPad user for about 10 years and the truth is that it costs me a lot to handle android (obviously it is just custom) but at first glance it seems much more "complicated" if you mean like that, than IOS, where everything It is as simple and within the reach of a single type as almost no other operating system, it is true that one has things that another does not offer or at least they offer the same but in different ways, that is competition, otherwise, we would all have the same cell phone , They are only tastes, there are no better or worse, I could have bought a Samsung galaxy s6, a Note 4, and LG G3 but I opted for my dear iPhone 6 plus 64gb, since I had a 4s 32gb almost 3 years ago and previously an iPhone 4 16gb, and previously an iPhone 3 8gb, I spent two weeks x a galaxy Note x there x in 2011 and I wanted to kill myself, I was missing everything, speed mainly but it is custom as I said, I returned to iOS and I did not I want to go more, it is my decisions, today many companies are more even in benefits, I continue opting x iOS, I find it more comfortable, fast, reliable and of better quality than android, in hardware, the S6 is beautiful and has nothing to envy, now, the android operating system, it lacks a lot of work for someone accustomed to iOS to decide simply move to another platform is my humble opinion.
