CurrentC, future Apple Pay competitor, delays its launch again

CurrentC is delayed

Mobile payments are the future. Apple knows this, and that is why it launched Apple Pay in 2014. As almost always, the Cupertino company was not the first to launch this service, but it did make it fashionable and now you can also pay with Android Pay and Samsung Pay ( original names, by the way). Another mobile payment system that has to arrive is CurrentC, although its launch has been delayed again.

The CEO of MCX, the company behind CurrentC, has reported that they have made the decision to focus on other aspects of their business, such as working with financial institutions to enable and scale mobile payment solutions. From his words we can understand that CurrentC still does not have the necessary support for it to become a mobile payment system that may interest users (and that Apple Pay it is only available in a small number of countries).

CurrentC is not yet ready for launch

As part of the transition, MCX will postpone a nationwide rollout of its CurrentC app. As MCX has said many times, the field of mobile payments is just beginning to take shape - it is still early in a very long game. MCX member-owners remain committed to the future.

If I have to be honest, I understand and am fine with what MCX will do with CurrentC. As they say, we are still beginning of the history of mobile payments And it is worth making sure that the service is worth it. Apple launched Apple Pay and yes, it works and is available for use in many financial institutions, but countries like Spain are still waiting for a service that was introduced almost two years ago.

This is not the first time that CurrentC has delayed its launch. In fact, the CEO of the company confessed that they intended to launch their mobile payment system in 2015, but we are already in May, it has not yet been launched and we are facing a new delay.
